Love is not just an emotion; it is a verb. Love in action is about showing up for one another. Live a life full of love! Sophia Agbemashior
Day 1
Scripture: John 3:16
John 3:16 is perhaps one of the most well-known and cherished verses in Scripture. It is a simple yet powerful declaration of God’s love for humanity and the ultimate sacrifice He made for us through His Son, Jesus Christ. This verse serves as a cornerstone of faith and is a reminder of God’s amazing love and grace towards you.
Let’s break this down together and truly understand the depth of this verse.
Firstly, it starts with “For God so loved the world.” Despite all your flaws, mistakes, and sins, God loves you unconditionally. He loves each one of you, regardless of who you are or what you have done. His love knows no boundaries; it extends to every corner of the world and to every single person.
Secondly, God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son. God’s love was not just words or feelings; it was shown through action. He was willing to give up His precious Son, who was without sin, to die on the cross for our sins. This act of selfless love is beyond our human understanding.
Love of this magnitude requires sacrifice and is unconditional and all-encompassing. It is this kind of love that surpasses all other loves because it comes from God Himself.
Think It Over!
How can you show this love to those around you? What are you willing to sacrifice to look like your father?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, Thank you for your sacrificial love towards me. Even at my worst, you chose to love me and sacrifice Your son for me. I was created in Your image, and I want to look more like You. Show me how to express love the way you do. In Jesus name, Amen
Day 2
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Genuine love is not merely an emotion but a steadfast commitment. Love is patient, teaching you endurance through challenges. It is kind, inspiring compassion and understanding. Love celebrates others’ successes without envy and remains humble, devoid of pride.
True love respects and honors others, choosing not to seek its own interests but prioritizing the well-being of those it loves. It’s not quick to anger or to keep a tally of wrongs. Instead, love forgives and lets go.
Love aligns itself with truth and righteousness, standing against falsehood and evil. It becomes a shield, protecting and nurturing. Trust is the foundation, hope is the constant companion, and perseverance is the unwavering commitment.
Ultimately, love, rooted in these qualities, never fails. It endures through all seasons, transcending circumstances. As you reflect on these verses, may you strive to embody this selfless and enduring love in your relationships, mirroring God’s love that never wavers.
Think It Over!
Are You showing this kind of love?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, May my love be a reflection of your boundless love, free from selfish desires and always seeking the well-being of others. Forgive me for the times when I have fallen short in my relationships. May I love and look like you when the world needs it most. In Jesus name, Amen.
Day 3
Scriptures: Proverbs 10:12, 1 Peter 4:8
In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to get caught up in conflicts and disagreements. You may feel the need to defend yourself or prove your point. However, these verses are reminders of the power of love to cover all wrongs. Love can calm anger, heal broken relationships, and bring peace.
As Christians, we are to love one another, even in disagreements. This love is not just a mere emotion but an action. You must actively choose to show love towards others. This doesn’t mean that you should avoid addressing issues or speaking the truth in love, but it does mean that you choose your words carefully and seek to reconcile rather than stirring up conflict. Love goes beyond our differences and flaws and covers our mistakes and shortcomings.
Love is powerful and can conquer even the darkest of sins. This love reflects the unconditional love that God has for you. It was because of His great love for you that Jesus died for your sins.
But why is this so important? Well, love has the power to heal and bring restoration. It allows you to forgive and overlook each other’s mistakes, just as God has done for you.
As you go about your day, remember to love one another deeply. Choose to forgive and extend grace to those who have wronged you. God’s love is unconditional, and you must share that love with others.
Think It Over!
Do you struggle with this kind of love?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, Thank you for your love that heals, restores and covers my wrongs. Let Your love be the force that unites, heals, and allows me to overcome wrongs with compassion and kindness. In Jesus name, Amen
Day 4
Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 16:14, 1 John 4:8
As Christians, we often talk about God’s love for us, but how often do you stop and think about what it means for God to be love? It means that love is not just something He does, but it’s who He is. His very character is love. You were created in the image of God, so love should also be at the core of who you are.
It is not enough to know that God is love. You also have to live it out in your daily lives. What does it mean to truly love? In a world that often confuses love with feelings or emotions, you must turn to God’s word for the true definition of love. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a describes it as patient, kind, not envious or boastful, not self-seeking, not easily angered, keeps no record of wrongs, and always perseveres. This is how God loves you, and this is how He calls you to love others.
You are called to reflect love to those around you. This is not an emotional or circumstantial love but a choice you make to imitate your Heavenly Father.
Love should be the motivation behind everything you do. Whether serving others, sharing the Gospel, or simply going about your daily tasks, love should be at the forefront of our minds. Love requires action.
In a world where hatred and division seem prevalent, be known for your love. Shine your light of love and point others towards Jesus.
Think It Over!
Are you shining your light of love?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, May every action, word, and thought in my life be filled with the power of love. Help me to love others as a reflection of your love. In Jesus name, Amen
Day 5
Scriptures: John 14:15, John 13:34-35
In John 14:15, Jesus speaks directly to his disciples and says, “If you love me, keep my commands.” And what are his commands? In John 13:34, Jesus commands us to love one another as He has loved us. This command may seem difficult to follow at times, but as a follower of Christ, you are called to love unconditionally, just as He has loved you.
In these verses, Jesus shares a clear message about the importance of love and obedience in your relationship with Him. Your love for Him should be evident through your actions.
As Christians, it’s easy to get distracted following a list of do’s and don’ts. True obedience comes from a heart that is filled with love for Jesus. When you truly love Him, you will naturally love others and treat them with the same love and kindness that He has shown you.
So don’t just be hearers of this word, but doers. Be known for your love, just as Jesus commanded.
Think It Over!
Are you known for your love?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, May my love for Christ be evident in the way I love others. Empower me to keep Your commands and show the world the love of Christ through my actions. May I be transformed by His love and extend it to those around me. In Jesus name, Amen.
