Day 1
Scriptures: 1 Chronicles 29:12, 1 Peter 4:10, Luke 16:10-11, Matthew 25:21
In a world that often screams for ownership and control, it’s revolutionary to consider a different approach: stewardship.
The first step toward a responsible relationship with your finances is a profound mindset shift.
Money, despite the personal effort it takes to earn, does not inherently belong to us. We are stewards of God’s provisions, entrusted with talents, abilities, and resources, not to serve ourselves but to fulfill His purposes.
Stewardship Defined
Stewardship is the management of resources that belong to someone else.
As Christians, we believe that everything we have is given by God. It’s a humbling and empowering concept; when we acknowledge God as the source, we’re called to manage our finances, not according to our desires but in alignment with divine principles.
But recognizing our stewardship role isn’t about diminishing our achievements; it’s about gratitude.
God has placed us in one of the most prosperous times in all history. This blessing isn’t a coincidence but part of God’s divine orchestration.
Adopting this stewardship mindset transforms how we view our finances. We’re not mere consumers or savers; we are channels of blessing. This stewardship perspective leads to financial decisions that extend beyond personal gain to God’s grander plan.
Let’s pray:
Heavenly Father, I acknowledge that every good thing I have comes from You. Help me to be a faithful steward of the resources You’ve entrusted to me. Guide my decisions and actions so that they may reflect Your glory and serve Your kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Day 2
Scriptures: Proverbs 10:22, Philippians 4:19, Matthew 6:33, Psalms 37:25, 2 Corinthians 9:8
Trusting God with Our Finances
Worldly wealth can be a heavy burden when it comes without peace.
Proverbs 10:22 says, “The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, without painful toil for it.” This wisdom contrasts sharply with the world’s way of achieving success, often laden with stress and sorrow.
How can we, who trust God for eternal salvation, hesitate to rely on Him for our earthly needs? A trust that encompasses our spiritual lives should naturally extend to our physical and financial realities.
Many fear that releasing their tight grip on money will lead to loss, but this fear ignores God’s nature. He is not a “subtractor” but a multiplier.
Understanding stewardship helps us realize that by managing our resources in God’s way, we open ourselves to receive greater blessings and, in turn, bless others more.
Let’s pray:
Lord, You are my provider and my source of peace. As I navigate my finances, help me to do so with the trust that You are my source. Fill me with Your wisdom to manage what You have given me.
In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
Day 3
Scriptures: 2 Corinthians 9:6-7, Proverbs 19:17, Malachi 3:10, Luke 6:38, Genesis 26:12
The Power of Giving in Hard Times
Our finances have the potential to leave a lasting impact. By investing in the lives of others and advancing the Gospel, we transform perishable resources (money) into eternal treasures.
This is the ultimate return on investment—one that bears fruit that lasts.
Scriptural examples abound of God’s faithfulness to those who give in hard times. Joseph, a giver who put God first, thrived in famine.
Isaac sowed during a famine and reaped a hundredfold because he followed God’s direction.
Their experiences teach us that, especially in a recession, we should not retract but actually expand our generosity.
In practical terms, facing a recession does not mean cutting back on giving to God’s work; rather, it’s a time to assess our personal expenses and align our spending with our stewardship role.
The principle is clear: If God can trust us to be generous conduits of His resources, He will ensure that we have enough to provide for our own needs as well as plenty to give.
Let’s pray:
Dear God, in times of scarcity and abundance alike, help me to keep my hands open, to give generously, and to trust in Your multiplying power. Teach me to sow seeds that will bear fruit for Your kingdom, believing in Your promise of a bountiful harvest. Amen.
