Day 1
Scriptures: Genesis 2:18, John 16:7, John 16:13
While living in this world, we constantly need a helper. When God created man, He made a special helper for Adam, Eve. As it is written in Genesis 2:18: “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make a helper suitable for him.” Eve was Adam’s first helper, but unfortunately, that same helper led him toward sin, and as a result of sin, death entered the world. However, God had a great plan to save humanity from sin and death. He Himself came into the world, taking on human form, and showed the way for man to be born again. As Jesus said in John 3:3: “Unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
Being born again is essential for salvation, and after bringing us into new birth, God did not leave us alone. Just as He said about Adam, “It is not good for him to be alone,” similarly, after we are born again, He said it is not good for us to be alone either. That’s why He came as our helper. The first helper was weak, but now God Himself became the helper for humanity. He promised that when He would leave this world physically, He would send another helper, the Holy Spirit.
In John 16:7, it is written: “It is for your benefit that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send Him to you.” Now, God Himself, in the form of the Holy Spirit, is always with us to support and guide us in every moment, through every difficulty. As stated in John 16:13: “When He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth.” The Holy Spirit is our eternal helper at every turn in life, protecting us from sin, challenges, and the deceptions of the world.
God, our Helper, never fails because He is now personally involved in our lives, supporting and guiding us at every step.
Day 2
Scripture: Hebrews 13:6
Hebrews 13:6
“So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?’”
I will never forget the time I went to my first MA class. The professor gave us a difficult assignment right in the first class and said, “Whoever completes and submits the assignment perfectly by tomorrow will be allowed to stay in my class, and whoever fails will have to go straight home.” My heart was filled with fear and anxiety because my friends had laptops, and they could easily use the internet to help them with their assignments. But I had neither a laptop nor the resources to prepare the assignment like them. It felt like everything was against me.
But then I turned to God, prayed, and sat quietly in a corner to calm my heart. I had no help except God. That night, with prayer, I wrote my assignment and left it in God’s hands before going to sleep. The next morning, I went to college, and the class was tense. The professor began checking the assignments. The best student in the class failed her assignment, and the professor said, “You are not fit for this class.” One by one, everyone’s assignments were being rejected, and I sat in my seat praying that God would help me. When my turn came, I nervously approached the professor, my hands shaking, but I had faith in Jesus’ name. The professor looked at my assignment, flipped through one page, then the second, and then the third. I was holding my breath. Then suddenly, the professor raised my assignment and said, “This is the assignment I was looking for!” Tears filled my eyes because I knew it wasn’t my strength but God’s help. I was the only student in the class who passed while everyone else failed. The professor said, “She wrote this from her own understanding, while the rest of the class copied from the internet.”
Friends, that day, I saw with my own eyes how God helped me, and today I say with complete confidence and boldness: “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid!”
Day 3
Scriptures: Psalms 121:1-2, Psalms 46:1
Psalm 121:1-2
“I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
On the evening of September 13th, at 7 pm, I received a call saying that my eldest brother had been in a serious accident and had sustained a severe head injury. He was in critical condition in the ICU. The news shook me to my core. Our entire family was devastated, crying uncontrollably. We were four hours away from him and immediately set off for Islamabad. That journey was one of the hardest we had ever endured—filled with fear, uncertainty, and pain.
But in that difficult moment, my father said, “My God, whom I worship, will never disappoint me.” His words gave us strength. We all prayed, crying out to God, and when we arrived at the hospital and saw my brother covered in blood, we were shaken to our very souls. Yet, it was in that moment of despair that I felt God’s presence, helping us.
Psalm 46:1
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
The doctors kept giving us discouraging updates. They said, “He has only a few hours; let’s see how long he lasts.” Their words were breaking our hearts, but our God, the true Helper, was with us. My brother underwent two major surgeries, and for two months, he remained in a coma. But, dear friends, God never left us alone. Every day, every moment, God was with us, holding us up. Each day brought more improvement for my brother.
Today, my brother is alive and well, the same brother the doctors said wouldn’t survive. But God extended His mighty hand and gave him new life. Today, my brother is serving the Lord, and we are all so thankful that God not only supported us during that trial but also saved my brother.
Friends! Truly, my help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
Day 4
Scripture: Isaiah 41:13
Isaiah 41:13
For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, ‘Do not fear; I will help you.’”
Indeed, my dear friends! Our Lord assures us that we should not be afraid, for He is always there to help us. This is His promise, and I want to share with you how He fulfilled this promise in my life.
Many years ago, I was teaching at a school. During that time, my elder sister was expecting a baby, and she needed my help. I left my school and moved to another city to be with her during this challenging time. After her delivery, I gave several interviews at different schools, but every position had already been filled. My disappointment grew with each passing day, as every door seemed to be closing, and my heart was full of fear and anxiety. I prayed to the Lord and said, “Lord, You are my greatest hope. You create ways where none seem to exist. I am waiting for Your help!” My dear friends, that moment was a turning point in my life that I could never have imagined. A vacancy opened up at a government college, and the position was exactly in line with my qualifications. It was as if God had arranged it especially for me because it was a minority seat, and there was no one else competing for it. At other places where I applied, there were girls more qualified and with higher grades than me. But here, God held my right hand and said, “Do not fear; I will help you!”
Hallelujah! God fulfilled His promise and gave me that job, where I was the only candidate. He proved that when we completely trust Him, He not only creates a path for us but also helps us.
My dear ones! You too can ask for God’s help because His word is true. He will take hold of your hand and say to you, “Do not fear; I will help you!” Amen.
Day 5
Scripture: Psalms 54:4
Psalm 54:4
“Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.”
God’s help is not limited to our daily lives, nor can we say that He only helps us with small or big matters. In fact, His help is present in every moment and aspect of our lives. Even when we strive to understand His Word, God assists us with His wisdom and power. God’s Word, filled with divine mysteries and truths, is not easy for the human mind to grasp. But when we sincerely seek to understand it, God guides us, enlightens our minds, and opens our spiritual eyes so we can comprehend its deeper truths.
As I mentioned on the first day, God has placed helpers in our lives to guide us along the way. One day, I was reflecting on Genesis 2:18, which says: “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make a helper suitable for him.”
While reading this verse, God opened my mind and taught me a profound truth. In the beginning, the first helper was the woman, Eve, who fell into sin, revealing her weakness. But for the new creation, God Himself became our Helper! This was a great mystery that God revealed to me. We see that even when the prophet Daniel was struggling to understand the mysteries of God’s Word concerning the people of Israel, God sent His angel to explain it to him.
My dear friends, when you set your heart to learn and understand God’s Word, He is always ready to help you. He opens your heart and mind so you can better grasp His truths. Sometimes, He even sends angels, just as He did with Daniel, to guide you and make things clear.
There is another important reality here: no human being can help you the way God can. Now, as new creations in Christ, God Himself is our Helper. He is with us in every moment of our lives, understanding our struggles, and giving us the strength to live according to His Word.
So, let us hold on to this truth: when we turn to God, ask for His help, and seek to dive deeper into His Word, He is always near us. We should never feel alone because our God is our true Helper.
Amen!
