Theological Bites

Day 1

Scripture: Matthew 21:9

The Triumphal Entry

Jesus entered Jerusalem as King, but not with the pomp and splendor of an earthly ruler. Instead, He came humbly, riding on a donkey. The crowd joyfully acclaimed Him, yet many who shouted “Hosanna!” would later cry out “Crucify Him!” This moment reminds us that Jesus did not come to meet human expectations but to fulfill God’s perfect plan for salvation.

Today, Jesus still seeks to enter our lives—not as a temporary ruler but as the Lord of our existence. Do we truly welcome Him, or only when it is convenient? His kingship requires full surrender, even when we do not fully understand His ways.

🔹 Application Questions:

  1. How can you proclaim Jesus as King in your daily life?
  2. Does your faith depend on Jesus fulfilling your expectations, or do you trust in His perfect will?
Day 2

Scripture: Matthew 21:12-13

The Cleansing of the Temple

Jesus demonstrated His zeal for holiness when He drove out the merchants from the temple. This act reveals His desire for worship to be pure and focused on communion with God. Today, our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19), and God desires to dwell in a heart that is clean and devoted to Him.

Just as Jesus cleansed the temple in Jerusalem, we must allow Him to purify our lives from anything that separates us from His presence. Sometimes, we tolerate attitudes, habits, or thoughts that contaminate our hearts. Jesus wants to renew us and make us a holy temple for His glory.

🔹 Application Questions:

  1. What areas of your life need to be cleansed so that God can fully dwell in you?
  2. How can you prioritize prayer and communion with God in your daily life?
Day 3

Scripture: Luke 22:19-20

The Last Supper and the New Covenant

At the Last Supper, Jesus established the new covenant in His blood, symbolizing His sacrifice for humanity. The bread represents His body given for us, and the wine, His blood shed for the forgiveness of our sins. This act of love reminds us that salvation is not based on our merits but on God’s grace.

Every time we partake of the Lord’s Supper, we should remember His love and live in gratitude and holiness. It is not just a ritual but a reminder that we have been redeemed at a great price.

🔹 Application Questions:

  1. How can you live daily remembering Christ’s sacrifice for you?
  2. Does your life reflect gratitude and obedience to Christ’s work?
Day 4

Scripture: Matthew 26:39

The Prayer in Gethsemane

Jesus, in His humanity, experienced deep anguish over the suffering He was about to endure. However, His prayer showed complete surrender to the Father’s will. Even in His pain, Jesus chose obedience.

Sometimes we face difficult situations and want to avoid suffering. However, Jesus teaches us that true faith is shown in submission to God, trusting that His will is perfect, even when we do not understand it.

🔹 Application Questions:

  1. How do you respond when God calls you to do something difficult?
  2. In what area do you need to surrender more to God’s will?
Day 5

Scripture: Luke 23:34

The Crucifixion and Forgiveness

In the midst of extreme suffering, Jesus displayed the greatest love by asking for forgiveness for His executioners. His sacrifice on the cross gives us access to forgiveness and reconciliation with God.

Just as Jesus forgave those who harmed Him, He also calls us to forgive others. Holding on to resentment only binds us, but forgiveness frees us and reflects Christ’s character in us.

🔹 Application Questions:

  1. Is there someone you need to forgive as Christ has forgiven you?
  2. How can you reflect Jesus’ love to those who have hurt you?
Day 6

Scripture: Matthew 27:59-60

Hope in the Tomb

The day after the crucifixion was a time of apparent defeat and silence. The disciples were filled with fear and confusion, but God was working out the fulfillment of His plan.

In our lives, there are moments when it seems that God is silent. However, the empty tomb reminds us that the story does not end in darkness but in victory. Even when we do not see immediate answers, we can trust that God is working for our good.

🔹 Application Questions:

  1. How can you strengthen your faith when you do not see immediate answers from God?
  2. What areas of your life do you need to surrender to God with hope and trust?
Day 7

Scripture: Matthew 28:6

The Resurrection and Victory

Christ is risen! His victory over death means that sin and condemnation have been defeated. The resurrection gives us hope and assures us that our faith is not in vain.

Just as Jesus rose again, we also have new life in Him. We are not meant to live in defeat but in the power of His resurrection. Our response should be a life of joy, purpose, and testimony to the living Christ.

🔹 Application Questions:

  1. How can you live each day with the assurance of Christ’s victory in your life?
  2. How can you share the hope of the resurrection with others?

There’s a song that always reminds me of Jesus’ love and fills me with confidence, especially in those moments when God feels far away. Give it a listen and let me know what you think.
