Day 1

Scriptures: Isaiah 30:18, Ephesians 3:20, Isaiah 43:19

Are you continuously finding yourself thinking about that vision you once had, your calling, or what you’re called to fight for?

If you’re anything like me, I often have to be intentional about planning and working out those steps to get there rather than just daydreaming. Part of “waiting” is in the pressing in—a listening ear and responsive heart to the wooing of God as though we long for the revelation of truth and love from God. Pressing in could be the most difficult part of “waiting”, because we don’t feel much traction when things are so out of our control that the only option we have is to press in and keep pursuing God!

But HE is good to those who wait! This type of waiting is not just sitting back while eating bonbons, but it’s waiting by pressing in: seeking to know HIM more, learning of God’s character and praising Him in the middle of the storms and the dry seasons whenever they come. Yes, it’s much easier said than done, but if we work like it depends on us, and then pray like it depends on Him, then He will do ONLY WHAT HE CAN DO!

My encouragement to you is to let God work behind the scenes while you continue your journey forward, chasing that vision and waiting for it to unfold. When it’s time, He will GLORIOUSLY show up and show off! And when He does, everyone around you, including you, will be able to say “GOD DID THAT!”

Ephesians 3:20 says that “He can do immeasurably more than all we could ask or imagine through the power working within us!” which gives us permission to dream God-sized dreams. Even in the desert or on the journey where we feel like we’ve been waiting for way too long, He promises to make a way! (Isaiah 43:19) So be encouraged, sweet friend: “Blessed are all those who [earnestly] wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him [for His victory, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless, unbroken companionship]!” – Isaiah 30:18

As you go through the next 25 days, take time to reflect with the questions I ask you upon finishing the devotional. These questions are meant to spur you on towards more. If you get stuck, that’s ok. Try asking God to open your mind to what might be getting in the way and then jump back in. My hope is this time spent in God’s word and reflecting on your own journey of waiting you will experience great breakthroughs. When you do, I’d love to hear about them!  A lot of prayer, tears, and time has been poured over these days so I hope you will be encouraged in the process.

Now, from here, I can’t wait to dive in with you!

So, may God lift your chin, awaken your heart, and open your eyes to all you possess in Him. May you refuse to let your disappointments define you. May you instead stand on that barren land and envision a harvest. May you experience a revival of faith in the very place of your heartbreak. Instead of rehashing your losses, look ahead and determine to rehearse His promises because they’re truer than your circumstances. May you choose hope. Choose to press in through the hard parts, the ugly parts, the boring parts. Trust in an everlasting sovereign Father who is GOOD and just like any Father who wants his best for his children, may you REST in Him as you endure the process of waiting.

Day 2

Scriptures: 1 John 4:18, 2 Samuel 23:20-23

It’s about the Chase //  If I were to bet, there’s a chance you have not heard of Benaiah.  Mark Batterson, Pastor of National Community Church in Washington D.C. was actually the first to draw my attention to his character in the bible as David’s bodyguard.  The impressive part isn’t just that he was King David’s bodyguard; it’s that Benaiah just so happened to kill a LION, in a pit on a snowy day, with his bare hands!  (Now who wouldn’t want this man for their personal bodyguard, right?!)

I’m guessing you may have been asked at one point of your life: “What would you do or go after if you knew you couldn’t fail?”  However, what if you were asked this question: If you knew that you still might fail, what dream would you STILL go after because you couldn’t live with yourself if you didn’t?! Makes you think a bit more, huh?

So, if faith is being sure of things unseen, our faith grows when we get to know God more and become more sure of who He is.  Have you ever considered that faith is also the process of UN-learning our fears? As we grow in our revelation of God’s love for us; we become FREE from all other fears because He trumps them all. It is when we know that God is on our side we are equipped with the bravery to run towards the dreams that are destined to fail without God! I like to think God is working behind the scenes to gloriously show up and show off! For me, I don’t sit too long in asking myself: “What I would do if I knew I couldn’t fail?” Because chances are in life that we might fail a time or two.

For me, when I think about failure in certain aspects of my dreams/vision for life it doesn’t matter.  For me I know I couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t fight for people’s freedom and the desire to communicate HOPE. For people to understand their value and worth and the freedom they have access to in knowing Jesus is what keeps driving me! Even if I fail in spreading hope, or fail in connecting with someone to deliver a message of freedom, I know that I know that I know I couldn’t live with myself if I wasn’t doing something about it.

As the bible is filled with incredible men and women who had the courage to chase after what they felt God called them to, we can look to these stories to gain the courage to face our fears and chase our dreams too!

Benaiah had the chance to face his fears when he got stuck in a pit with a lion. David faced Goliath and killed him! Esther pleaded for her people before a king and he listened(but didn’t have to!) Mary went shopping for maternity clothes as a virgin. Noah built an Ark without experiencing rain. Peter walked on water but could’ve stayed in the boat… Luther fought for the right of people to access God’s word. MLK Jr. stood up for black rights and his dream. Churches started from a couple’s call to move into an unfamiliar new city. People experienced freedom when Celebrate Recovery was championed and they saw others set free.  A21 was started when an orphan realized her place as a child of God and desire for others to see that freedom too. Remote villages came to understand Christ’s love for them when a couple felt called to deliver the gospel to the hard to reach places.  Inmates in prison experienced new life when ex-cons turned back towards the confined to deliver hope.  And I’ll bet your life was impacted when you heard someone’s story and learned of your chance to make an impact…

Your dream won’t dissolve when you read things like this….

So…What dream are you chasing?  What fear are you running away from?

As Batterson reminds us in Chasing the Lion: “It’s not about winning and losing. It’s not about success and failure. There comes a point when it’s about obedience. When God puts that lion in your path, where you have the courage to step out in faith and go after it!!”

Tell that lion to stop roaring and step into that dream! After all “Perfect love casts out fear.”

RESPOND:

What dream/vision keeps you awake at night? IF you knew that you still might fail, what dream would you STILL go after because you couldn’t live with yourself if you didn’t go after that dream?

What are you afraid of? Would confronting this help propel you towards your dream being fulfilled? What are you waiting for?

PRAYER:

Father, as I look towards my dreams of what could be, give me the courage to respond to what you’ve put on my heart.  Lord show me, that despite my fears, YOU are bigger.  Lord give me a holy confidence to step towards what you are calling me to and as I trust in you to continue leading the way; wipe away the obstacles and show me confirmation I am heading in the right direction. Give me the courage to take action today. Show me what I’m passionate about. Like Benaiah was given a holy confidence and courageous spirit, I ask for that too. It’s in your name I pray, Jesus. Amen.

Day 3

Scriptures: Romans 5:3-5, Luke 1:37, Isaiah 55:8-9

Perseverance. Fight for it //  “You will never value what you don’t have to fight for” – unknown

Challenged by this thought before me and finding myself agreeing with it wholeheartedly! Why is it the things that are the most valued in our lives are the things that accompany the most pain, blood, sweat or tears?! Probably because those are the visions, the people, the things you really got down and fought for!

Whether it be in the time you spent on your knees praying for freedom or victory in your life or in a loved one’s life, the time and hard work you spent towards building a dream or chasing after a calling you couldn’t shake; or it was the commitment you took before one another to day in and day out “fight” for it. Even in the seemingly impossible, trust that nothing is impossible for God. The delay of a career and hitting wall upon wall in your pursuit.  The hope and journey towards freedom from that stronghold. The waiting of an adoption after years of not being able to get pregnant. The process of building a business. The waiting for the estranged son or daughter to call. The enduring of chronic illness.  Even the battle for health.  We CAN remain confident because in His word, His promise assures us that with God NOTHING is impossible and He is faithful to the end.

Trust the Lord is still at work in the details my friend.  Instead of getting bogged down by the wait (or the weight) which is what the enemy will want you to focus on, start focusing on how BIG God is! I believe He has his reasons for wanting us to “fight” and I believe a big part of this is because of the quote above.  We truly will not value things we don’t fight for.

Could you imagine if you got everything you wanted, how ‘appreciative’ you’d really be if it was just delivered upon desire?  Perhaps part of God’s reason for delays or reasons for wanting us to ‘fight’ for certain things is to perfect our character? Perhaps it’s to show Him how much we’re willing to go after that dream/vision/whatever the “it” is we feel called to?! Or perhaps it’s also to show and confirm within Your own mind just how much it means to YOU?!!

“Love patiently accepts all things. It always trusts, always hopes, and always endures.” – 1 Corinthians 13:7 NCV

Whatever it is…. remain steadfast in your fight!

It will be worth it!!

RESPOND:

What are you “fighting” for right now?

What is it that God wants you to see in the process of waiting/fighting for what’s on your heart?

What other areas has God delivered answers on?  Try writing down places you’ve seen God show up and deliver on, before to encourage your current state.

PRAYER:

Lord while I continue to come before you, presenting my requests, help me to see what you want me to see. Lord I realize that sometimes you don’t deliver us from pain, sickness, or a longing to be fulfilled overnight because you really do want us to FIGHT for what it is we’re asking for.  Lord I know that with you all things are possible.  I also know that in the waiting and what feels like suffering many times, you are producing endurance and character which eventually will also lead to hope.  God as long as I have hope I can get through anything. Let me remember your timing is greater than mine. Your reasons are far beyond what I know and to trust in your sovereign timing for these answers. Help me not to give up the fight and press on until the day of glory whether this side of heaven or upon stepping into eternity. Jesus thank you for hearing me and giving me strength to keep fighting for _____.  It’s in your name we pray, Amen.

Day 4

Scriptures: 1 Thessalonians 5:11, Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

Their WIN Can Be Yours // I once heard a killer talk on being in one another’s corner in the losses of life but EVEN through another’s success!

For many of us, the problem doesn’t come in celebrating that their home finally sold, their recent job promotion, the pregnancy announcement, or the newly engaged couple. The part that becomes the most difficult is when you seem to be desiring that same very thing and you get ‘the news’ or discover someone’s ‘win’ in the place of the very thing you’ve been hoping for, for months, years, or perhaps even decades.

When your friend, significant other, or fellow colleague gets a promotion when you’ve been hoping to too….

When they finally sell their home but yours isn’t under contract yet….

When he hits under par on what seems like repeat and you get 2 over par almost every time together…

When you hear they got pregnant while you two are still trying…

When they announce their engagement & you’re hoping for that too, but now wondering if he’ll ever ask…

When they knocked their presentation out of the park without any prep and got kudos on speaking, and you’ve been longing for opportunities just to speak…

All of these and a whole lot more scenarios just like these can be challenging hurdles to overcome when you are filled with feelings of want, desire, longing, or know the season of waiting all too well.

My challenge to you: BE THEIR CHEERLEADER!!!

And then surround yourself with cheerleaders who root for you in life too!  When you have a victory or succeed at something, if you’re also surrounded by cheerleaders who root for others they will celebrate with you too! Life isn’t about our personal wins and personal victories. If you get those wins or victories but no one is there to celebrate or be happy with you, how deflating would that be?

Surround yourself with people who believe “YOUR WIN IS MY WIN” and see how it positively impacts your world!

Try cheering for others in their victories and see how much joy you truly experience in their victories too! It’s so much sweeter celebrating WITH others than it is to miss out on it all together because of moping at home alone.   Regardless of your circumstances, I’ll bet it would bless you too. Plus, with a thankful and a genuine heart of praise, I believe the Lord will reward you for choosing to celebrate with your brother or sister in Christ for their “win” while you wait on Him for your breakthrough!  And just think, perhaps your WIN will be the one to celebrate next!

RESPOND:

Has there been recent “WINS” you have been hurt by? If so, and it is not too late, take time to CELEBRATE and get excited with them.

Spend some time in prayer and then practice being joyful when the next friend experiences a “WIN”.

PRAYER:

Lord, forgive me for the way I have not been cheerful when others have gotten what I’ve hoped for for so long. You know my heart’s desire and what I am hoping for. Help me to be able to put aside my own emotions and feelings in their recent celebrations and come along side my friends to really DO LIFE and really JOIN in their joy!  Lord I believe you are still working on my behalf and in my situation. Help me to continue giving you the glory and praise when I see another brother or sister succeed. To them, this may be something they’ve longed for too; so as I enter into their joy; I trust you with the outcome of my own situations and praise you in advance for all you are already doing in and through my life.

Day 5

Scriptures: Joshua 1:5, Romans 13:8, John 4:13-14

There’s Healing In The Water // I think there’s a misconception about calling and vision. When God calls you on a journey, and you’ve truly decided to step out and trust him, people often think it shouldn’t take long, that it won’t be hard, and we will effortlessly get to the other side.

Oftentimes though, I believe it’s in ‘the calling’ where we experience the journey towards that destination when we want to give up, call it quits, or exit the plan. We’re wired to seek comfort, aren’t we? I want to encourage you though, friend. What He began He will sustain! And, when He speaks about getting to the other side; whether calm seas or raging storms, we can trust God to deliver on His promises.

You might be following Jesus if you’re in a storm and drenched!

Just picture Peter the disciple crawling back into the boat after Jesus’ rescue on the water after he tried walking on it! Gasping for air, hugging the pillow thanking God you’re not drowning anymore but soaked nonetheless. At least you can say you jumped in!

Jesus never promised a healthy, happy or safe life. He DID say he would never leave nor forsake you. He did say he would remain the same yesterday, today, and forever (and that’s amazing in an ever-changing world!) He did promise unconditional acceptance, love and grace; despite our biggest flaws, hang-ups & habits. And Jesus promised to work all things together for good for those who love him and are called to his purposes!! It may hurt like hell but don’t quit!

Perhaps some of you are in the middle of a storm? Trust that He knows! Keep your eyes on Jesus – He is faithful to carry you to the end, my friend.

If God has given you a word, please don’t give up! We need you to fight for it! Fight for you! Fight for others! Your story can be hope and encouragement to someone who needs it too. There is FREEDOM in knowing Jesus and healing in the living water. He promises with the water He gives that we will never thirst again.

RESPOND:

What storm are you in the middle of?

Are your eyes still on him, or have you started to question? Why? Take time to journal your thoughts.

PRAYER:

Lord, it feels as though I’m drowning. I’m in the middle of this storm and while I know you are in control, I admit the waves feel too big for me. I need your rescue. I need you to lift me out of the waters and to let me catch my breath. Lord help me to believe you will never leave me. Lord help me to see that in knowing You, I’ve already been given eternal life; so please help me to keep fighting the faith and know you are for me. Lord, thank you that your love is not based off conditional acceptances and despite my mess-ups, flaws, habits and hangups there is nothing I can do to earn your love; you just love me. Lord renew my vision. Help me not to quit and let me see what I’m praying for, come to fruition. I will keep fighting if you are my strength and help in time of need. Today I need you.

Day 6

Scriptures: 2 Peter 3:9, Lamentations 3:25, Proverbs 13:12, Matthew 6:33

Why Must We Wait? // I’m sure that God keeps no one waiting unless He sees that it’s good for them to wait” – C.S. Lewis

Profound words by CS Lewis on waiting. “Why must we always wait?” you may ask. I know I do!  Perhaps, it’s for when the day comes where we don’t have to wait any longer, we can be truly grateful? Perhaps, it’s to see how bad we really want things to come. Perhaps, it’s so we can get to know our Heavenly Father a little deeper. If we got what we wanted just like that, I’m pretty sure we’d all become entitled selfish brats who didn’t truly appreciate the precious gift of something we’ve longed for.

It says in the word “hope deferred makes the heart grow sick; but a longing fulfilled is the tree of life!” It also says “the Lord does not delay and is not tardy about showing what He promises” aaaand the Lord is good to those who wait hopefully and expectantly for him, to those who seek him….for the Lord will not cast off forever!”

Where are you at today? Waiting on something God gave you a vision for perhaps what feels like years and years ago? I can relate. Press in and on dear friend! Perhaps, it’s not a vision, but just something you really hope and long for? I believe He gives us the desires of our hearts 💕 but I also think sometimes the process of the journey and all that waiting is not only to see how bad we want it or to see if we will endure and keep pressing in towards that hope until it’s fulfilled; or simply because he wants more of us.

He continues to pursue our hearts and wants to make sure that He is our first desire! He’s not Santa Claus (although sometimes he surprises us like Santa;) He truly is a loving Father who not only wants to give us his best, but He also wants us to get where we’re supposed to go more than we want to get there. Sometimes it just takes a little bit longer.

Take heart.

There is a common theme I am certain of:

if Abraham learned to wait on God for the promise land;

if David waited on God to become king after years after he was anointed as king;

if Joseph waited on God in jail (all while feeling forgotten) to see his dream realized and see God’s vision come true;

if Daniel waited on God for delivery from the Lions;

if Simeon waited on God to show up in Human form;

if many friends of mine waited on God for their happily ever after, their dream job, their freedom from bondage, their family reconciliation, or their strength and they saw their longing eventually realized; then you and I can wait on God too!

Keep pressing in. He is good to those who wait hopefully and expectantly. Keep seeking Him first in the process.

RESPOND:

Within the waiting, are your prayers mostly one-sided?

Do you ever take time to just praise Him for being a God who sees and delivers?  Thank God today he is a God like no-other.

PRAYER:

Father thank you that you are a God like no other. Thank you for caring enough about us to pursue our hearts and give us ample time to respond to your free gift of life.  Thank you that you do not demand our sacrifices, but you delight when we spend time with you. God thank you for being a God who sees and delivers!  You deliver from lions’ dens, from the fiery furnace, through prisons and captivity, and even honor your promises and your word. Lord let us praise you in the waiting for you are good and we can trust you to work all things together for good because we love you and are called according to your purpose Father. Thank you for being a good good Father.

Day 7

Scriptures: Psalms 37:4-5, Romans 8:28, Luke 8:41-56

If You Lose Hope // “Dear God, if today I lose my hope, please remind me your plans are bigger than my dreams!”

The day in and day out of life can be a real struggle. Sometimes close to unbearable! Especially when it seems as though the point “between” or the waiting time seems to be a little longer than our desired timeline! Agree? I wonder what it must have been like to be Joseph in prison waiting for freedom, or the woman with the issue of blood hoping and looking for a cure for over 12 years? Perhaps Simeon can tell us a thing or two once we see him in eternity about waiting a lifetime for the Messiah and Savior to come.

The Bible is full of great stories, triumphs and victories through God’s magnificent hand at work; but the part we don’t fully comprehend is the actual wait-time or the longing between “glory to glory”.  We get to read from the beginning on through the middle of the struggle and tragedy of the story, and then on to the delivery or triumph at the end of the story because of access to God’s word.

I heard a true but ironically funny statement once: “We move from glory to glory as believers but it’s hell in the hallway.” Feel like you can relate?!? I sure do. “When will this hell be over?!” I often cry out.

Keeping my eyes fixed on Jesus, I can only trust and then thank God for other areas of life I’ve seen him deliver and carry forward his promise to make all things work together for good! It’s given me hope for times between seeing fulfillment of a dream or a longing fulfilled that seems not so unreachable.

So, why don’t I actually live comfortably?  Why don’t I just decide to settle into something more attainable within my comfort zone? And why do I continue to dream so big after so many years of waiting? Because, I want my life to testify God’s work and glory! Don’t you?  I want my life to be a reflection of His power and I want it to show off His “BIG-NESS” and things that only HE is capable of!

Just think of the miracles from the word.  When God showed up doing something mighty like parting the Red Sea to deliver the Israelites, turn water to wine, or raise the dead; it not only displayed God’s glory but it benefited and completely blessed those who received the miracle!  Lazarus being raised from the dead certainly gave Mary and Martha something to be joyful about!  Bringing life to the daughter of Jairus, after he traveled to see Jesus, so that he might come heal her was something to shout praises about!  Being cured of an ‘incurable’ disease that lasted 12 years relieved the woman from being an outcast AND displayed God’s glory!

So, when your heart begins to wane, and the delay seems unbearable, remind yourself of HIS PROMISES and choose to trust that He is gloriously setting the stage to show up and show off because He is ONLY good!! GOD IS FAITHFUL.  And He works all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purposes.  He takes delight in giving his children the desires of their hearts!

…..now TRUST my friend. Remember how big His plans are compared to your dreams.

RESPOND:

Are you struggling to hang on to hope?

Do you believe God could do a miracle in your situation?

Read the story of Jairus below and the healing of the woman with the issue of blood then take some time to journal. Be encouraged, God is a God of miracles.

PRAYER:

Father you are in the business of miracles.  Right now I feel as though I’m in agony waiting for your word to breathe life into my situation.  You know how long I’ve been waiting and yet sometimes you want us to continue forward so that you might display your glory even greater!  Just like Lazarus being raised from the Dead has given you glory and the woman’s story with the issue of blood; you healed her too.  Lord these stories give me encouragement to know you haven’t forgotten and perhaps you’re in the midst of setting the stage to gloriously show up and show off. Please encourage my heart as I choose to continue delighting in you despite my circumstances.  Help me to know your plans for me far outweigh my plans. May you receive all glory, honor, and praise from my life and the story I’m living.  In Jesus name.

Day 8

Scriptures: Psalms 34:17-18, Philippians 1:6

Persevering in Pain // “Those with the capacity to feel great pain are also those with the capacity to feel deep joy!”

I heard this great response once when asked “Why do you cry so much?” The response was profound: “Same reason I laugh so much….because I’m PAYING attention!”

The more you know yourself and your ability to truly and deeply enter in into someone’s world, you run the risk of greater pain. But chances are you can experience great joy too, rather than just a bit of joy or a little bit of excitement. Instead of being numb to the world or rarely experiencing pain that impacts you, You FULLY FEEL.  You may be saying “Yeah, but why does it hurt so much to fully feel?” to which I respond, because you really care!

It may be hard for you to go throughout the day thinking your actions don’t impact others or being aloof to others temperaments and feelings, unlike some people.  While we’re not supposed to be a doormat for others, it’s unique to find someone who can come alongside another who’s hurting and really jump in to walk beside them in life. But when given the gift of discernment and the ability to walk alongside someone in need, count it a blessing! Chances are your experiences will allow you to empathize on greater levels too.  You will probably also have a friend or two that will come alongside you, right when you need it. AND the cool part, I bet you’ll have a glorious time celebrating with loved ones when you can truly deeply celebrate and experience JOY with them too!

If you need it today, know you have a friend in Jesus. He will comfort you in your sorrows and be by your side when you’re crushed in spirit. He will also work ALL things together for good and He promises to provide a hope and a future!

Hang on dear one. Those who fall hard, RISE GLORIOUSLY!

Press in! He who began the good work promises to carry it on to completion!

RESPOND:

Is there someone or something that you’ve endured that has hurt you deeper than what seems you should have been hurt?  Take a moment to process it before the Lord and then let him provide comfort.

When was the last time you laughed till your side hurt from laughing?  I’ll bet you weren’t by yourself; you were probably surrounded by people you really feel great around, right? Spend some time thanking God for your ability to experience emotions and really be present.

PRAYER:

Lord, thank you for the ability to really feel emotions of highs and lows.  Not everyone is able to tap into their heart to process how they feel.  Lord right now, I need you to carry my heart as I trust in you to not only provide rescue but to heal it. I admit I hate feeling hurt; but I know you promise to draw near and right now I need your loving presence to soothe my aching heart.  I believe you have a hope and a future like it says in your word, so help me to trust this process and you as you take care of my heart from here.  Lord give me moments of relief. Help me to see you in the process and help me to look to you as my comforter and strength.  Also thank you for those moments of Joy, I know I have experienced before. Thank you for laughter. Thank you for tears.  Thank you for being present in it all and please heal my heart as I lean into you and trust you to comfort me now.  In Jesus name. Amen

Day 9

Scriptures: Habakkuk 1:5, Habakkuk 2:1-3

Until The Time Is Right // As far as the east is to the west and the north to the south; we cannot escape his presence nor love. It’s never-ending.

When you are in His keeping; He will protect you & prepare you for what’s to come. When He speaks, write it down.

Try to picture this: Your heart is being held just like that vision. He guards it with His loving hands and has you in His keeping until the time is right…. The vision, like the box, appears to be far away but maybe it’s closer than you think.

“I will stand like a guard to watch and place myself at the tower. I will wait to see what he will say to me; I will wait to learn how God will answer my complaint. The LORD answered me: “Write down the vision; write it clearly on clay tablets so whoever reads it can run to tell others. It is not yet time for the message to come true, but that time is coming soon; the message will come true. It may seem like a long time, but be patient and wait for it, because it will surely come; it will not be delayed.” -Habakkuk 2:1-3

If we were honest with ourselves and had a conversation with others, I think most of us would say there’s something in life we continue to wait on. Perhaps you had a vision years ago that you truly believe was of the Lord and you’re waiting for it to come to pass. Wait for it! Although God is rarely early, He never shows up late and He is ALWAYS right on time.

Waiting for the reality of a dream or a vision to come true can set doubt and discouragement in our heart, but that’s what the enemy wants. He wants to distract you from what God has already showed you.

Don’t lose heart, though! While we wait, God uses this time to set things into the right place. We can be encouraged that things are already set into motion and in the meantime God is allowing our character to develop and our trust muscles to grow. Just think, when the vision is large enough, it gives God room to truly show off in an exceedingly abundant way!  Like FAR greater than you could ask or imagine! (see Ephesians 3:20)

But let me ask you; would you rather settle for an answer right away that may not be God’s ultimate best for you? Or, would you rather endure the process, wait for His vision to unfold and then get to look back and see all that God did in and through the process on the way to your dream?!?

Think about it.

While I’m tempted to say I’d want to enjoy the immediate satisfaction of an answered prayer, there is something so sweet about getting to look back and know the endurance and journey of all you went through to see a vision fulfilled. Wouldn’t you agree?

It’s coming…wait for it.

RESPOND:

Is there a vision you’ve had at one point or another that you’ve struggled to hang on to and keep believing for?  Or maybe you’ve held onto a vision for quite some time, trying to dismiss it time and time again?

Perhaps it’s truly of the Lord? Maybe today is the day you write it down and then surrender trust to wait for it to come to pass, regardless of how long it takes.

PRAYER:

Lord, today as I reflect on the vision you’ve given me for my life; I admit, sometimes it’s hard to believe these are really from you.  Lord, I believe you are the God of the impossible and perhaps YOU, God, were the one to give me that dream so long ago. Help me not to get discouraged in the waiting. Lord, while I would love for you to answer this vision and let my dream unfold today; help me to rest in your perfect timing and keep the faith as I wait for it. Let your promises ring true. Lord would you let this year be the year where I see so many visions unfold?  Thank you for letting us feel safe to come to you in times of doubt, and please draw near in the process. I love you. Amen.

Day 10

Scriptures: Jeremiah 29:11-13, Revelation 21:5, Isaiah 43:19

Is His Presence Enough? // “You can have it all Lord; every part of my world; take this life and breathe on this heart that is now yours” – Bethel Music

Such profound lyrics after wrestling for even an afternoon with an idea that jumped off the page from a girlfriend’s post earlier in the day. I had stumbled upon it and it had me wrecked. It posed the questions that have haunted me at one time or another in life: “If I didn’t give you your dreams; if I wanted you to stay single, to never have kids, to never have that career, or to never be financially set free; would you still love me?! Would you still worship me? Would you still think I was good? Would you be willing to give it all up just to follow me?”

Honestly, even as I was still wrestling a bit with this idea, I had to process it earlier with HIM! I didn’t like the questions. I didn’t like the challenge. I certainly don’t want to surrender each vision, each hope, each longing of my heart; and yet in a moment of feeling the weight of God’s goodness and how he has rescued my heart time and time again, it was only after spending time in praise and choosing to sing of his faithfulness (whether or not my heart believed it) that the worship led me to surrender!

I came to a point of total surrender once again and I was choosing to trust. “He makes all things new” ya know.  He even tells us to perceive the new things he’s already begun.  How profound!!

While the challenge of these questions doesn’t sit lightly, when compared to a lifetime of His presence resting with and on me, I would surrender it all! Every desire. Every dream. Every longing. Everything. Knowing every tear would be redeemed in the process of journeying with Him. To have Him make me new and make my heart whole; just to have God’s presence reside with me would be worth it all!

The crazy part is viewing it this way then the blessings of dreams fulfilled, the visions that would come to life, a career that blossoms or the perfect fit for a husband would all be bonus.

What’s even more radical than this is that we serve a loving God who DOES give many of these things including His presence!  Just because He simply is that good.

….and so I exhale.

Every part of me is HIS.

The rest is in His hand.

RESPOND:

If He didn’t give you tangible answers to your dreams (marriage, kids, career, finances); Would you still love God?

Would you still worship Him? Would you still think He was good?

Would you be willing to give it all up just to follow Him?

PRAYER:

Lord, I confess I wrestle with the thoughts that I may never get what I long for.  While I believe you are good and you delight in bringing blessings and joy to your children, simply because you are good; you also don’t promise dreams to be fulfilled and every longing met.  You do promise to be with us, however.  Lord, help me come to a place where I can be satisfied completely and solely surrendered to just you, God. If I have everything I’ve ever wanted and don’t have you, my life truly will be nothing. Please draw near to me. Please give me more of your presence daily so that I know that even IF my hopes, my dreams and visions of a future life don’t evolve, I am still completely FULL in You! You are worthy of all my praise, all my love, all my hopes and dreams.  Please give me more of you. The rest will be the blessings of being your child.

Day 11

Scripture: Psalms 27:13-14

Take Courage // “I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! Wait for the Lord; be strong, & let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” Psalms 27:13-14

At times it feels as though I’m walking in David’s steps. Bipolar feelings warring with praises. We know how hard waiting is, and hope deferred really does make the heart grow sick.  But we are encouraged in His word and we can be confident that in HIM we really do have hope! In Hosea it talks about the Lord providing a doorway of hope through the valley of Achor (which means troubling).  So, if you were to think through Hosea’s story, God was delivering hope but it wasn’t without walking through a valley of trouble.  Thank God we can take his word as promises and we can know God will deliver us through the troubles we face today too.

So, it’s in those times we’re desperate; we can cry out for rescue and know He hears us. Our prayers aren’t offered into the abyss without return. Trust that He won’t send you into anything you’re not prepared to win!

So we pray;

Jesus, please draw near! We need you! God would you do a mighty work so mighty we know it’s only of you? Lord restore the joy of our salvation & remove any ounce of fear, shame, self doubt & self hatred! Wrap your arms of love around us as we learn to navigate the future! Thanks for being our comforter, our sustainer of strength, and our provider. Thank you for lavishing your love on us daily! God, thanks for the way you pursue our hearts and for being immovable in your love for us! Thank you for showing us what it’s like to have an unconditional love that doesn’t waiver despite our performance. Thank you for loving us enough to embrace who we are because you made us in your image; but once we surrender and invite you in, you will stop at nothing to heal us and make us better versions of ourselves!!!!

Heal the parts of us that are broken, Lord! Thank you for being committed to finish the work you’ve begun in our lives! Thank you for the gift of your Holy Spirit! Would you rest upon us as we go? Walk with us through that valley of trouble and give us the confidence you’re with us even then.  Intercede on our behalf with words only you can utter! Speak to the depths of our souls and draw us out to where we can hear you & see what you see! Continue to break our hearts for the things that break yours!

Lord, continue to show us deeper ways we can love you and each other. Lord, thank you for a million do-overs and for new chances. Thank you for never leaving our side even in the trials. Please encourage our spirit’s where they are. I know I can’t do this without you but I know you won’t withhold anything from me as if to rob me of your joy! I CHOOSE to believe You are ONLY GOOD & I press in. Amen

RESPOND:

If you have anything else to respond with, take the time to journal it now.

Day 12

Scriptures: 1 Samuel 17:1, 1 Samuel 17:46

What Was Meant To Destroy You // “God will use the very thing that was meant to destroy you”  – 1 Samuel 17:1

It was in the valley where the battle was! The giant was there to taunt and haunt the warriors that could not defeat the Philistines. And yet there was a young man who not only was courageous enough to step forward for the role to kill this giant; but he rose to the occasion knowing his God would deliver him!

As the story goes; the giant laughs at David and mocks him in his youth and ‘naivety’ from his perspective, but David knew something greater than Goliath & he proclaimed it just before he defeated him with merely a stone! David said “This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand… and all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.” 1 Samuel 17:46

Facing giants in our lives is never easy, and those giants always seem to linger longer than we desire, if not attach themselves to us in hopes to swallow us alive.

When the battle feels like it’s never ending; cry out to God who can deliver you in your valley! When the giant you face feels impossible to overcome; to gain leverage over; or to face; trust that the same God who aided David in defeating Goliath and the Philistines; is the same God who delivered David out of the paw of a lion and a bear, and the same God who delivered the Israelites from captivity. The same God delivered Daniel from the lion’s den, the blind man from darkness, the dead man from sleep, the woman from her past adulterous life, the gambler from his ways of cheating, the paralytic from his mat, and many many more…

GOD WILL deliver you!!!

Your greatest burdens that you can’t seem to let go and the very things you want to see righted! The most heart wrenching moments you assume forget? Even that very thing that the enemy meant to use to destroy you can be your platform!!!

Those waves, that undoubtedly will throw you around if you let them, will slam you into THE Rock. He will be your strength and meet you in your storm.  And when you’re delivered from the trenches your story can be the very testimony or catalyst to reach others, propel you into your calling, deliver hope, breathe life and be used to redeem and restore others!!!

Don’t give up!

He is for you!

He sees you!

He will fight for you!

And if you let him; He will deliver you!!

RESPOND:

What burden or issue the world carries keeps you awake at night, wanting to fix or find a solution to ‘right the wrong’?  (ie. trafficking, bondage, domestic violence, crime, victimization, health fraud, insurance scams, the poor, the unloved, people on the streets, a community without hope, etc)

What about your past?  What do you think God could use from YOUR story to help others?

What is causing you to pause?  Ask God to shed light into some places where you can start to explore what this looks like, and if you already know but need someone to ‘nudge’ you forward, consider this your ‘nudge.’

PRAYER:

Lord, even if I have thought of the life I’ve lived and the things I’ve found myself in could shape my future, I don’t know that I’ve really thought how they could help establish my platform.  Knowing the very thing the enemy has used against me, whether that’s anger or violence or bondage or anxiety or even doubt or fear; help me to use those ‘things’ I’ve endured in my life to point back to you!  Give me a platform to shout your GLORY and show others the freedom I have found in you!  Lord, help me not to give up. God, show me things I need to see that would set me up for stepping into my calling.  Lord, continue to equip and empower me by your spirit and by your word. Put your angels of protection around me as I champion heaven and attempt to change the history of others and the attack the enemy has launched on others too. Lord, help me to see how you connect the dots. Show me what I’m not seeing and equip me to keep fighting. THANK you in advance for your delivery. NOTHING is too small for you, Jesus. Help me to rest knowing this too. Amen

Day 13

Scriptures: Isaiah 43:19, Ezekiel 37:4-6, Daniel 9:23, Psalms 27:13-14

Do You Not See It? // “For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.” – Isaiah 43:19

At times you look to the distance and all you can see is miles upon miles or days upon days of what feels or appears like dry land. Not much life. Not much passing through. Not much to see. Wasteland. And yet God sees something different. He sees what He is doing! There are springs below the surface that He is causing to bubble and even he knows the pathway He will form.

If God can display His majesty by creating rivers in the midst of dry wasteland, don’t you think He can and WILL do something new with your situation too?! Even if it looks bare. Even if it has no life and zero signs of a turn-around. Even if it feels dry beyond saving.

As Ezekiel prophesied over dry bones to ARISE; so can you!  The Lord your God is working in your life. Friend, He is up to something new in you.  Perhaps He wants to take what was dry or what felt like it was lost in the wilderness, with no signs of revival, and show Himself GLORIOUS in your wasteland! Perhaps He wants you to address what seems to be dead, forgotten and lifeless, and speak life into it!

Maybe He’s waiting for you to join Him before it truly springs forth.  Just like many stories in the bible, below the surface there’s always a plan at work and He’s already setting the stage.  Sometimes it takes the faith on our end to believe him at his word.  Sometimes it takes speaking out to prophesy over ‘dry bones’.  And when it feels like all hope has been lost or there are no signs of that dream or problem ever being solved, trust that in the very moment you offered the prayer; he set answers into motion! (Jeremiah 9:29) Continue to trust the process and look for God’s goodness to be displayed in the land of the living!!

“Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” Ps 27:14

You won’t be the same & it will be glorious when He shows off in your story!!!!!

RESPOND:

What in your life feels lifeless or dull?

Perhaps God is waiting on you to speak life into your ‘dry bones’ and rise to the occasion to see momentum start to build?  Is it a forgotten dream? A stagnant idea? A relationship? Your own life?

PRAYER:

Lord as you gave Ezekiel the command to prophesy into the dry bones to live, we take a moment to call out and call forward LIFE. Lord, instill LIFE into the very situation I face today. Breathe your healing breath and renewed life into this dull and lifeless place. Let me trust you at work in the details and give me extra courage to wait on your timing. Lord, hope feels like one thing. The courage to speak out over the lifeless areas of my life is another battle. Give me the strength to stand up to what the enemy wants to be forever gone. YOU are the giver of life and hope, God. You give us new life and reason to live. Help me to see where you are creating new rivers of life, and give me the prompting to join in your work. In everything, would you allow me to get to know you on a deeper and more intimate way as I trust your process to bring LIFE into desolate places. Jesus I love you. Thank you for hearing my plea. Amen

Day 14

Scriptures: Psalms 126:5-6, Psalms 121:4, Psalms 27:13-14

Complete Destruction Has Its Purpose // “For a seed to achieve its greatest expression it must come completely undone. The shell cracks, the insides come out, and everything changes. To someone who doesn’t understand growth; it would look like complete destruction” – unknown

Ultimately if His likeness and His beauty are meant to shine through us, we will have to endure a process of sowing and harvesting. Just think of a seed being planted. The farmer has to wait for the harvest season to bring it back out of the ground. What happened in between the sowing and the harvesting was the wintertime, where it felt like everything was dead.  But then, right as the seed started to sprout, the cracking of the shell and everything on the inside had to come out. It appeared to be destroyed. But it’s in the process of the sprouting where the beauty of the plant and its greater purpose is revealed.

Even the process of waiting or the growing feels like complete destruction; but when you surrender and trust the ONE who is sovereign, you understand it’s even in the broken parts that Jesus draws near and does some of his best work.

In the seasons where nothing seems to be sprouting, even if we have some momentum but not enough to produce a big result or see a tree bursting forward; it’s in those times you feel like everything that is broken is being stripped off that you will eventually get to see what time in the darkness produced.

After the seed has awakened and the ugly shell has been stripped away, others begin to notice the growth you already have experienced.  The beauty of strength and character that was developed is finally noticed. Suddenly, perseverance and endurance become something you understand, and you are stronger because of the time it took. Your hope has been refined and you finally understand; the seed that was planted in this season isn’t dead; it’s just been sleeping.

When you believe God can do exceedingly and abundantly more than you can ask, hope or imagine; reality begins to shift!

It takes faith to trust God will do the work in between the sowing and the harvest. Leaving the seed alone to grow in the ground is perhaps the hardest part of the wait. Trusting God to produce things beneath the surface in the dark is challenging.  But as it says in the word, “Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy” so take heart my friend. All those things you sowed in tears will be redeemed. They will be restored. Those seeds that have been planted are NOT dead. Trust God to eventually bring forth a harvest that will only cause you to praise Him for all He did.

Trust him. He’s got good plans for you.

RESPOND:

What have you sowed recently?

Is there anything you have seen God answer after a season of ‘seed sowing’ that you can praise him for now?  Take time to praise God for His timing and all He is doing

PRAYER:

Lord thank you for the things I wished were answered time and time again immediately weren’t.  Thank  you for the way you showed up in way bigger ways.  Thank you for the hope you instill in me by knowing you are good. By resting in the knowledge that you always are at work behind the scenes, I look forward to praising you when the harvest comes.  Lord thank you for how you have worked in my life to allow me time to step into the fullness of what you want me to experience at different times.  Lord thank you for answers you’ve already set into motion. Lord thank you for allowing certain seasons of ‘burial’ so you could dramatically work in my life.  Even if right now feels like one of those wintery seasons, let me lean into you and trust you have a plan and you will allow me to walk in the harvest and truly reap with shouts of joy! I praise you for working on my behalf and for my good. May you get ALL GLORY and HONOR when people see you show up and show off in my life. Amen

Day 15

Scriptures: James 1:4, Romans 5:3-5, Daniel 9:23

He heard you //  “When you began to plead with God, HE answered you….”

Thankful to know that despite my ability to foretell the future; when a prayer is offered up; especially one with thanksgiving or cries of help with repentance; I can trust God is already at work behind the scenes and has set answers into motion!!!

As the story goes in Daniel; he spent time before the Lord crying out for mercy and it was there he was not only assured his prayers were in fact heard; but that he was told he was greatly loved!

Perhaps you have a few conversations with God you’re waiting on answers or breakthroughs for?  Take heart and know He is at work behind the scenes for your greater good and benefit. Although you cannot see it right now, there will be a day you can look back and see that “even then” God was working things out.

So today, even if it hurts like hell to endure the valley you’re in; trust that He is building into you strength, character, perseverance and hope. And you will be complete lacking nothing! In the midst of the unknown, trust a God who knows! He has sent answers. HOW HE LOVES YOU!!

“At the beginning of your pleas for mercy a word went out, and I have come to tell it to you, for you are greatly loved. Therefore consider the word and understand the vision.” Daniel 9:23 ESV

RESPOND:

What are you currently praying about seeing answers to?

If you knew God already sent an answer, how would that realign or reshape your current state?

What season you’re in might not only be for your benefit but for others who’re supposed to be part of the answer to what you’re waiting on. Thank God for working behind the scenes in ways we cannot fathom and spend some time journaling.

PRAYER:

Father God, THANK YOU. Thank you that you know far greater than I of what the future holds. You know my heart and you know what I’ve been waiting on. While you’re developing more character and the ability to persevere, please increase my hope that you truly are working behind the scenes.  It’s easy to get discouraged when I don’t feel you working or sense that you’re up to something, but that is why I am choosing to believe you are faithful!!  Just like you knew what you were doing when you asked Abraham to trust you with Isaac. Or when you asked Daniel to trust you with the lion’s den. Or Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, when you asked them to trust you walking into that fiery furnace. Even when you asked Esther to trust you as she approached the king. You were working behind the scenes, to set the stage, to meet their cries for help in a perfectly-timed, divine-intervention way that greatly showed your Glory!

God, you know what you’re doing! Please give me strength to wait, courage to trust, hope while I trust, and the peace to know you are perfectly in control and have a plan and purpose for even this.  Thank you, in advance, for your answers which I eagerly anticipate and cannot wait to thank you for!  It’s in your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Day 16

Scriptures: John 10:10, Deuteronomy 30:19

We get to choose // “You have written and redeemed my story. Let my eyes see you King, shine all around. Let my heart overflow with a passion for your name; let me life be a song revealing who you are….” – Lauren Daigle, singer-songwriter

When found in a place of utter brokenness; it’s in the surrender where we can come before the throne of the Almighty knowing HE intricately understands and knows the ‘ins’ and ‘outs’ of every detail of our lives. He places a passion in our hearts and calls those ‘dead’ places to rise up!  When something matters enough to speak out; or matters enough to change the trajectory of our lives, we are faced with a very important action. We get to choose!

In our human flaws that grieve one another. The injustice that rules in our world. And the evil that entangles our own lives; we have the chance to live in freedom all through choice! We get to decide when it’s enough. And you bet the Holy Spirit will back you up with the choice if it’s in line with his word.  By the beauty of free will we have the ability to choose when we’re tired of living in bondage and chains and say “NO MORE!”. It’s by God’s power in us which you and I can stand against the strongholds this world uses to lure us into deeper bondage by claiming “no more”.

Through Jesus’ strength we can know what’s it’s like to step into a life free of burdens once thought as forever bonds. We have a chance to seek freedom. And we get the free will to CHOOSE when it’s enough. We have a chance to call out to those dry bones: “come alive!” And step into freedom…..

Bring your burdens. Draw a bloodline in the sand and step into LIFE & claim it back.  You were meant to live LIFE and FULLY live!

RESPOND:

Do you have something in your life you want to battle for?

Perhaps you’ve been living in the struggle of a stronghold…. Is it time to say “enough is enough?” and call out those dry bones to “come alive”?

Choose LIFE today! Surrender that thing and trust God will work. Remember, He will only come where He’s invited so invite the Holy Spirit to move and help you get to a place of surrendering once and for all.

PRAYER:

Lord, it’s by your name that we claim victory in our circumstances.  Thank you for choosing us and for coming to set us free. Thank you for the gift and sacrifice of Jesus to be the ultimate way for us!  Lord thank you for coming to give us life to the full!  Now equip us to battle. With a helmet of salvation protect our minds Jesus.  With the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith to protect us from the enemies arrows, and our feet fitted with peace as we continue on the journey this life has for us.  Thank you for your word which IS our sword in any battle. Thank you for giving us freedom and for your gift of grace with no strings attached. Help us to be a beacon of light and hope for others who may not yet know the bondage they’re in. And Lord, let us be a light in every room and circle we enter, so people will know us by your love and experience the freedom we display. Surround us with your angels of protection as we continue to fight the faith and for freedom.  THANK YOU for fighting for us too, Jesus. We are forever grateful for who you are. Thank you for giving me life. Amen.

Day 17

Scriptures: Mark 4:35-41, Matthew 14:24-32, Psalms 139:17-18

He Can Handle Your Stuff //

It was an unexpected message from a close girlfriend that had me wrecked tonight! A girl I didn’t even know had chosen to take her life through suicide (makes me sick to even write this 🙁

How bad does it have to get for someone to feel their only relief is to exit their life?! If only she understood the worth and beauty of her own story and how it could be redeemed and healed!

Which brings me to today’s subject of trust. Ahhhh, how hard it is to fully trust God for the outcome when we feel like we would do and choose a dozen things differently, given the option to control our own destiny or life?! Thankfully God sees the end result and what He’s trying to accomplish in and through our lives. I actually think we’d be in awe of Him and his plans if we could only see. If we could only see the thousands of things God orchestrates on our behalf to bring us to where He wants us to be throughout our lifetime!

And yet, when the doubts creep in and the uncertainty screams louder than the other voices; the art of quieting those voices to hear the Creator’s voice becomes what feels like never-ending.

And so, it’s the times of seeing sunsets like this where I am reminded of the Maker of the Heavens and stars and everything between.  I’m also reminded that the One who made the heavens and earth is also the One who formed you and I in the womb. He knows the number of hairs on our heads; and his thoughts towards us outnumber the grains of sand on the earth, so I am reminded to trust once again.

If God can set the earth into motion and create the sun and moon, and if Jesus can control the weather patterns and calm the storms in the disciple’s’ journey across waters; He can handle our stuff. His plans are for good. And you and I can trust that whatever God has brought you to, HE has promised to bring you through!

He will never leave you nor forsake you, my sweet friend. Know this; even when life’s storms overwhelm you they don’t overwhelm Him. Perhaps he’s just setting the stage for his glorious intervention.

Hang on! It’s worth it.

I promise!

RESPOND:

Do you struggle with giving thoughts of negativity and doubt too much weight?

What “voices” do you need to quiet in order to hear from God and see where he might be working behind the scenes in your life?

What storm are you in the middle of that might feel like it’s never-ending?

Has God given you a specific word of what to hope for/his promise?

Even his promise of everlasting life is enough to give us hope that he redeems ALL situations.  Take a moment to seek the Lord and readjust your focus on HIM, not the waves of your storm.

PRAYER:

Jesus, I need you. Every day, I need you. Please adjust my alignment with you Lord. Show me where you might be working, and help me to take my eyes off of the storm that is throwing me to and fro. God, I believe you redeem and heal stories. Even when it feels like there’s no hope, please send someone or speak to me to show me that any temptation of ending it all, it is not the way.  It may feel like I’m in a mess of a storm, but just like you promised the disciples to go to the other side, I believe you will take me there. As long as I know you are with me, I can do this too. Please give me hope and confidence to TRUST in your mighty plan as I wait on you Lord.  Help me to listen to only your voice, NOT the voices of the devil, for he is a liar. I choose to trust you Lord Jesus. I choose to press in and wait for you to bring my hopes and dreams to fruition, God. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for redeeming my story.

Amen.

Day 18

Scriptures: 2 Corinthians 12:9, 1 Corinthians 10:13, Deuteronomy 20:4, Deuteronomy 1:30

Stay In The Story //

It’s funny how the times I want to give up the most, the road starts to make way towards an obvious turn.  And so I usually think “if I can muster the strength to hang on, I’ll get to see what’s beyond that turn!”

There’s numerous times I’ve wanted to let go for the sake of taking the “comfortable” route. Perhaps you, like me, think “this is too hard! I can’t do this!” more often than not. But, if we can just cling a little tighter to Jesus, I am convinced the ride and sights will be totally worth it!

We hear a lot of times about faith being a journey, and how life is not about the destination but the journey we’re on or who we become in the process of the journey.  Well, it’s in those times where you’ve wanted to give up that you can choose to “stay in the story” and see what God has for you where I believe you will get to see rays of light and glimmers of hope that will beckon you forward.  It’s in these times where I’m reminded to keep pressing in and to keep moving forward because He IS truly working

Remember though, in those times the enemy wanted us to throw in the towel, to not trust, or frankly just give up; it’s those times where we have the chance of coming to the other side and seeing ALL the beautiful work God has done in the process.

BUT, you have to get there!

Thank God tunnels only last so long! Pretty sure no one would ever make the drive through the aspens if the entire route was a tunnel and we couldn’t admire the leaves changing or taking different colors on! What a sight we’d miss!!!

When you’re in that tunnel of darkness, similar to a drive through the mountains, you keep at it because you know there will be light and an end at some point of the drive, right?  As with life, when it feels like you’re in a tunnel and haven’t seen even a glimpse of light; keep going! Stay the course! Stay in the story and fight for the end; even if it’s short term.

You know the tunnel you’re in and where to keep fighting…

Maybe it’s in passing your boards? Or graduating with your MA? Making every radiation treatment to get to walk out the other side? Maybe it’s the day you go all day without the urge towards that drink or pill? Or the night you finally don’t look up the images! Perhaps it’s the day you get to reflect on the joy you experienced after months of brokenness. Maybe it’s solving an ongoing argument in the family, or the anniversary you dreaded because of their accident and your loss? The money finally has come in from the case settlement and the weight finally lifts! Or what if it’s the day your efforts finally pay off towards real intimacy and you can finally experience freedom?

Whatever that ‘end’ or relief looks like, just keep going.

I’m pretty sure that even if we wanted to watch the leaves change before our eyes in the fall, we couldn’t. Same with staying still in our stories. It’s a real challenge and you may have to fight like your life depends on it, but stay in the story and see what God has around that bend. It could be awesome!!!

RESPOND:

What “tunnel” are you in currently?  Has it been hard to encourage yourself to hang on till the end?

What are you waiting for?

Take some time to pray for the strength to stay in the story today. Remember, God will never allow you to be tempted in more than you can handle (because He is your strength!!). His grace is sufficient and his power is made perfect IN YOUR WEAKNESS.

PRAYER:

Lord, thank you for the strength you promise us when we are weak. God you know the reality of the tunnel I’m in today and I need your encouragement and hope that you ARE working on my behalf. Father, as I want to stay in the story, there are times it just feels too hard. So Lord, please encourage me.  Please show me someone or something by your word that gives me strength to keep the fight! I trust you are at work, so help me to choose this daily. Help me to turn to you when I am in the midst of temptation or thoughts of worry. Help me to turn my thoughts back to you knowing your grace is sufficient.  Thank you for the unlimited grace that you extend to us and thanks that we don’t have to have it all figured out. Thank you that we can rest in knowing that you are sovereign and you see the end of this tunnel, and the next. Thank you for loving us and for fighting our battles with and for us. Thank you for Jesus’ gift and sacrifice in fighting the ultimate battle for us so that we might have life everlasting.  Amen.

Day 19

Scriptures: Deuteronomy 31:8, Joshua 1:5, Matthew 14:24-33, Exodus 14:14

Expectant Faith Overcomes Fear Every Time //

There’s something about taking a risk where the thoughts enter your head: “What if it doesn’t work?” “What if I fail?” “What if they see through me?” “What if I mess it up?” “What if I drown?”

We’ve all been there. When’s the last time you heard that little voice of doubt discouraging you to go for something because of not having what it takes?  It’s in those moments where you get a glimpse of what’s before you and the potential it has, but then you have a defeating thought enter your head.  This will become the pivotal point in how you handle going forward.

On one hand, you can choose to give in to the defeat of all your “what ifs” and continue down the path you’re on, always wondering, always wishing you had taken that step towards action.  Or on the other hand, you can choose courage, which sounds so much more exciting; and you start down that path.

You get to a place after you muster up the courage where you decide it doesn’t matter the size of the risk, but you’re IN! No matter what!  Because you know that even if you fail, you’ve given it your all and you tried! Even if you are discovered; you are discovered genuine. Even if you mess up; you could have another chance. And if you start to drown; the lifesaver may be thrown your direction.

What seemed scary at first was from a place of fear and from the boat.  When you saw the size of the swell, but you remembered Jesus is with you; whether it’s in the boat, on the shore looking at the waves, or walking on water with him, you know you’ll be okay.

The idea of walking on water seems like a lot more exciting than living from the shore or inside the boat, doesn’t it?

But what about all those other “what ifs”?  We all have them.

The idea of walking on water sounds great when it comes to “walking in faith” in terms of trusting God with your _____. (Fill in the blank: finances, relationship with your dad, boss and his negativity, in-laws brother 5 states away.) But what about the other areas you worry over at the same time? You know, the “not so easy to walk in faith” ones?  Your income situation? Your relationship that never seems to have peace? That nagging desire to ask for the raise or switch careers?  What about your brother’s habits or your own issues of control?

When the “what ifs” and negative voices are non-stop, I’ve actually found that when you don’t glance a second time or allow that fear of “what if” to control you; their power over you lessens significantly.  When you don’t give weight to those worries, you can actually thrive even more, especially when we speak it out loud.  It doesn’t give the enemy anything to hold on to when you declare he will have no power over you, who you are, or the position you have as a child of God! You can walk in expectancy of the future and what’s in store simply because you know that you are a child of God, and He always works on your behalf for your good and your benefit!

So when you’re faced with a decision you need to make, be it the unknown or a thousand “what ifs”; you can run to a loving father who gives grace in time of need.  He also promises to give wisdom to those who ask.   And promises to never leave your side.  So even if you do fail. Even if you are seen for who you are. you totally mess it up, or even start to drown; Jesus WILL catch you each and every time.

Once you understand God is for you; failure is part of the journey. It’s not always bad. Just think; there may be something that is around the corner that is just waiting for you to rise to the occasion! But, it takes going for it to see if you can, and even if you fail, you get back up and keep going.  If you don’t have the courage to face that fear though, you may not get to see what is to come. So, expect great things dear friend!

Know Jesus already and you can be confident that He will work, and is already working, on your behalf. Come expectantly! He doesn’t expect you to be made-up or perfectly together, just come with a willing heart and the anticipation of what’s to come.

RESPOND:

What fears or “what ifs” are you holding on to now that are keeping you from taking action on your future?

Do you have dreams or hopes of something to come, but know you won’t ever get to see them come to fruition if you don’t rise to the occasion and seize the day?

Consider taking that leap!  Speak out loud to your fears.  Today’s as good as any to rise to the occasion!  Let’s pray for some courage…

PRAYER:

Lord, thank you for the way you continue to prompt our hearts when we truly long for something that’s in line with your will. Whether it be relational cohesion or a solution to a work related problem, or even some internal things we need to address within our own lives.  God, thank you for being a God who knows and a God who draws near in our times of need. God thank you for your promises to be with us, never leaving us in the midst of our storms.  God, thank you for your promise of hope and a future.  God, would you give me the courage to take a stand to pursue the things on my heart that are in line with your will even if I have a thousand “what ifs”? God, help me to claim my spot rightfully as your child. The enemy will have no power over me because I am a child of yours. I am loved. I am redeemed. I am your beloved. The other voices I hear are just attempts at scaring me out of my calling.  Lord, let me feel your presence overshadow any doubt I have. Lord, give me courage to stand.  Give me courage to act. God, let me walk forward trusting YOU with the outcome regardless of the situation I’m in. You are sovereign and I’m thankful I can rest knowing you ultimately are in control. I give you my hopes, my dreams, my fears and doubts; and I ask you to replace them with more thoughts of you and your love and courage. In Jesus name. Amen

Day 20

Scriptures: Hebrews 6:19, Hebrews 10:23, Matthew 17:20

A Mustard Seed //

Let’s be real for a minute; there’s many times I’ve been tempted to throw out the idea of being made “for a reason” or having a specific calling just because the journey has gotten almost too hard. I’ve oftentimes asked God if he really told me things. If the things I’ve felt called to pursue was truly from Him. Or if waiting on Him was really what He wanted me to do.

God knows we play our fair share of thinking in circles and trying to figure out our own way to solve a situation; or make something happen on our own time, right?! But what’s funny is; how it never works the way we want it to when it’s on our own dime or our own efforts (without His backing that is)

I’m a firm believer in “working like it depends on us then praying like it depends on Him” and feel this is our responsibility: to be excellent in everything we do, but then to trust that His favor will fall on us in the process too. In a recent season, everything I seemed to be praying about and talking to God over, I admit there were times I felt like I was wishing on a star, and in reality I didn’t even know if my prayers would be answered because they were not “filled with faith”. Often times I questioned what desires He put on my heart and if I’m even on the right track.  Anyone relate?  Especially when we hear whispers of doubts speaking “you’re not enough” or “you can’t do that, leave it to someone that CAN”.

Well good news; even faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains! And we can trust God at His word! When He speaks words of delivery, courage or redemption, we can believe for It! The hardest challenge we will have is to trust in the promises He gives us will come to fruition! But in the waiting and the pressing in is where our faith is built, our character refined, our joy complete. Don’t let go of your faith because of what you have yet to see my friend; God is still writing your story. HE has A PURPOSE. HE IS FOR YOU. His plans are GOOD & EVERY. THING. the enemy meant to use to harm you; God WILL USE for YOUR GOOD! Are you holding onto promises of His word & waiting for them to come to their fullness? Hold on and don’t give up hope. Hold unswervingly to the HOPE we profess, for HE who PROMISED IS FAITHFUL ❤

RESPOND:

What prayers have you prayed with little faith?

Do you think it’s possible to let that seed grow and that prayer grow into something you believe for? Talk to God about your story and your own journey.  Silence those voices of doubt and watch that mustard seed grow

PRAYER:

Lord, thank you for the little bit of hope you’ve given me in the courage to even pray for ____.  I admit, oftentimes I pray not knowing if it’s truly your will for ____ to happen, but I do believe faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains as it says in your word. Lord, help me to silence the lies of the accuser and to believe I am enough; that I can do this with you by my side and that you are still writing my story.  Lord, let me see your purpose for my life continue to unfold as I trust another aspect of my life into your hands and believe for great things to come. God, I believe you will use even this for good, so as I hold unswervingly to the hope I profess in you, in the personal intimate connection I have with you, help me to rest in your goodness. Let me see your faithfulness. Thank you for your incredible provision. Thank you for watching over my life and protecting me even today. I love you Father. I am so grateful for the gift of knowing you and your son, Jesus. Thank you for his sacrifice and for the reason we can find hope in you as the anchor of our hope. Please increase my faith and let me walk with utmost confidence your plans are for good. Amen

Day 21

Scriptures: Matthew 7:7-8, 1 Corinthians 14:33, Psalms 119:105, Isaiah 43:19

Going the Distance //

Ever feel like the journey you’re on seems to be never ending?! Perhaps you’ve been following the path before you and you suddenly have a freak out moment wondering if you missed your exit or if you somehow didn’t get the memo it would be another dozen years (of what it seems like). We’ve all been there.

It’s super easy to be discouraged when you don’t see very much light at the end of the tunnel, or perhaps question the road you’re on; but the good news is there is a loving father who is sovereign over all, and when called upon He will jump in and get involved. He’s a gentleman though; He never goes where He’s not invited, so invite Him today! From Chronicles to Deuteronomy and even the Psalms we’re affirmed that God will draw near. He will be found when we seek Him, and we will see deliverance when we seek Him too.

Feel like you’ve hit a dead end? Ask him to light your path and show you what’s ahead. While we may not see the entire journey with twists and turns ahead, He will at least give you what you need to continue with one foot in front of the other forward. And remember this, my friend, God is not the author of confusion (if you don’t have peace, heed to that! Pause and get back to where you felt peace….) then move forward. Even when everything seems desolate and unmoving; TRUST in a mighty loving God who has the ability to move mountains and provide a river in dry wasteland or a way in the wilderness! His love is limitless and his plans for you are for good! Hang on to that.

RESPOND:

Feel like you’ve hit a dead end or not quite sure about a decision in life right now?  How can you trust Him more fully when the road seems unclear?  Spend some time journaling after you ask for clarity.  Write down what you think God might be telling you.  He knows your heart, but sometimes it helps to share again (for your sake, not His)

PRAYER:

God thank you for your promises that ring true throughout the word of God. Thank you that you are never changing, but you are constantly at work on my behalf and for my benefit. God when we ask, seek, and knock it says in your word you will be found by us, so please draw near.  Lord light my path as I’m uncertain as to the road turning and I need your wisdom. Thank you for being infinitely good and for knowing the plans you have for me. Thank you for the peace you provide and for the assurance you’re not a God of confusion so you will direct my path even when it seems unknown. God I need your guidance. Thank you for your deliverance day after day and for new mercies every morning. Thank you for who you are and how you love even me. I invite your Holy Spirit to have access to every part of me and to illuminate the path before me… I am forever grateful for your guidance and ability to move on my behalf. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Day 22

Scriptures: Deuteronomy 1:3-7, Psalms 147:3, Psalms 107:20, Jeremiah 30:17, Isaiah 58:8

You Have Stayed Long Enough // “You have stayed on this mountain long enough”Deuteronomy 1:6

In this story, God finally called the Israelites down.  But can you imagine being stuck somewhere for forty years when you could move forward in less than two weeks?  That’s what happened with the Israelites. They had already been delivered from Egypt and crossed the Red Sea to escape Pharaoh’s wrath, but it was here where they wandered around in the wilderness for forty years to make what was actually an eleven-day journey.

Why on earth did it take that long?

I was reading a devotional by Joyce Meyer on this and she says “The Israelites couldn’t move on because they had a wilderness mentality.” The Israelites had no positive vision for their lives and no dreams. They needed to let go of that mentality and trust God.

And so I ask today– what is it you’re facing which you continue to battle with and struggle letting go?

– The pain he caused when his promises weren’t fulfilled?

– That conversation you had that she destroyed every hope for a restored marriage?

– The professor’s statements about your ethic?

– The colleague that had no right to treat you the way he did to get ahead?

– She/he knew all your fears and used it all against you.

– Your words didn’t stand true so they made up things to the others and you’re seen as a fake.

– The kids certainly don’t think you’ll be a success with your past.

– The last project failed so the thought of another risk seems ridiculous, you don’t want to get burned again.

– It never seems to work the way you hoped, so why try again?

– You remember that one time when ___, and on and on the spiral goes…

Has it been years and years, or has it simply been long enough? (6mos too long can be long enough!) Wrestling over the same thing or thoughts, complaining about the circumstance you’re in yet no vision or desire to get to somewhere new or where God wants you? Can I tell you that healthy and whole is what He wants for you.  Part of our freedom in knowing who Jesus is, is that He came to set captives free and give us vision for our life! He came to silence the voice of the accuser.

“Where vision lacks, people perish” Proverbs 29:18. I think this is true for all of our lives. When we dwell in the past instead of looking towards tomorrow and embracing new vision, our spirits become small and we don’t get to the potential God has for us!!

What is it in your life you’re struggling to get through, give up, or release so you can step freely into tomorrow? Ask God for a new vision and wisdom as he makes your path clear! Ask him to heal the parts of you that need to be healed! I’m pretty sure He’s just waiting to jump in because He’s a good God who longs to bless you!

RESPOND:

What’s keeping you from stepping freely into tomorrow?

Are there things you need to sort through before you can dream again?  Perhaps today is the day of new beginnings where you stop looking behind, and start looking ahead.

PRAYER:

Father you know what happened that just doesn’t feel ok to move forward as if it didn’t happen. And yet when we choose to forgive or look ahead, it doesn’t mean what was done to us was ok. It simply means we are choosing by faith to release trust into your hand that you will take care of us going forward and the weight of the burden from the past can be lifted.  Lord, would you help me to keep my eyes forward and on you? I don’t want to stay any longer in the wilderness I’ve been wandering in. It already feels like it’s been too long, so Lord, will you captivate my heart with dreams and hopes for the future? Would you breathe into my life new vision? Heal the parts of me that need to be healed, Father. As I trust you to go before me paving the path, I will trust you and I will also take a stand against that mountain and obstacle to trust your miraculous healing, divine guidance, and intervention into our everyday norm can happen.  Father help me to surrender it all at your cross now, and let me walk forward with the hope that you will clear the path before me. Reassure me that I will know the direction to step into as it appears before me. THANK YOU for healing the parts that need to be healed. Thank you for your rescue Jesus.

Day 23

Scripture: Psalms 27:13-14

Warring With Praises // “I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! Wait for the Lord; be strong, & let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” – ‭‭Psalms 27:13-14‬

At times it feels as though I’m walking in David’s steps. Bipolar feelings warring with PRAISES. Waiting is hard and hope deferred makes the heart grow sick. We can be confident of this: in HIM we have hope! As the word in Hosea talks about the Lord providing a doorway of hope through the valley of Achor (which means troubling) we know God will deliver THROUGH that trouble! So, in the times we’re desperate, we can cry out. He won’t send you into anything you’re not prepared to win!

RESPOND:

What are you facing right now you really need the strength to get through another day?

Spend time today in prayer. Battle it out and remember our spirits come in line with God’s word as we choose to believe his promises are real and available for us.

PRAY:

Jesus please draw near! We need you! God would you do a mighty work? And so mighty that we know it’s only of you?

Lord, restore the joy of our salvation and remove any ounce of fear, shame, self doubt or self hatred. Wrap your arms of love around us as we learn to navigate the future! Thanks for being our comforter, our sustainer of strength, and our provider. Thank you for lavishing your love on us daily. God, thanks for the way you pursue our hearts and for being immovable in your love for us. Thank you for showing us what it’s like to have an unconditional love that doesn’t waiver despite our performance. Thank you for loving us enough to embrace who we are because you made us in your image; but once we surrender and invite you in you stop at nothing to heal us and make us better versions of ourselves! Heal the parts of us that are broken. Thank you for being committed to finish the work you’ve begun in our lives! Thank you for the gift of your Holy Spirit! Would you rest upon us as we go? Intercede on our behalf with words only you can utter! Lord speak to our depths, and draw us out where we can hear you and see what you see. Continue to break our hearts for the things that break yours! Lord, please continue to show us deeper ways we can love you and each other!!! Lord thank you for a million do overs and new chances. Please encourage my spirit. I know I can’t do this without you but I know you won’t withhold anything from me as if to rob me of your joy! I CHOOSE to believe You are ONLY GOOD as I press in and hang on to you as my only hope.  Amen

Day 24

Scriptures: James 1:6-8, Ephesians 3:20

Worry Your Prayers No More // “Ask boldly, believing, without a second thought. People who “worry their prayers” are like wind-whipped waves. Don’t think you’re going to get anything from the Master that way, adrift at sea, keeping all your options open.” – James 1:6-8 MSG

It is here where I believe God is inviting us to pray in such a way that it scares what is scared within us! If you asked me even 5 years ago if I would picture my life how it is today; I would say “no” …and yet in the beauty of the journey it has unfolded to bring me to exactly where I am at; and it has been one incredible journey. A journey filled with ups and downs! Amazing adventures, joy filled experiences, heart wrenching at times; and yet beautifully laced with unbelievable memories! I am blessed. As I look to the future I recall the little girl that’s scared to step forward; but remember who my daddy is and how BIG he is; that he really can do “exceeding and abundantly more than all I could ask or imagine” and so I trust him. I surrender my all; my heart, my calling, my day to day; trusting the path before me. I will simply gaze at pictures like this painting and then stroll on by knowing there are great things ahead!

There was something beautiful about this picture when I took it. The paint and colors so vibrant, yet the girl so broken and when I think about it now; perhaps we all have a bit of her inside of us. But it’s the cracks where the rays of light shine through! And this character to me portrays a girl who prays with worry (like James 1:6-8 talks about).

We don’t add a moment to our time by worrying; but when we take time to PRAY; we can encounter the Creator and things can shift! I’m choosing to believe for great things ahead and looking out ahead over the water the Hillsong song lyrics came to mind: “Give me faith to walk on water…” and I will go where He will lead me.

__

What in your life have you prayed for, then let it be snatched away by fear or worry immediately after prayer? I’m sure you’ve heard that expression that worrying is like a rocking-chair: you spend a lot of time “doing” but you never get anywhere.  In the end of this devotional will you choose to anticipate with great joy of what’s to come? Will you choose to believe he can do “immeasurably more than all you could ask or imagine through His power working within you.”? Choose not to tell God how big your problems are, but tell your problems how BIG your God is! Then cling to that hope; Jesus, who is the anchor of your soul.  Ask him to do a mighty work. Commit to not worry.

You got this friend. Keep trusting and keep your eyes on Him.

RESPOND:

Do you “worry” your prayers?  What are you currently worrying over that God might be calling you to surrender and trust him with the answers/provision for?

What are you going to choose to confront with the possibility that God could do ‘immeasurably more’ than you can ask, think, or imagine with?

PRAYER:

Lord, I admit I get caught up in worrying about when things will happen. Father, when I start to worry about the very thing I just surrendered to you, will you quicken my heart to see your hand and feel your hand in my situation?  Lord help me to take my worries captive and choose to believe you will show up in mighty ways. Lord in the year we face, you have the ability to show off mightily. Help me keep my eyes fixed on you and Lord help me to daily surrender my worries and know that you are in control. Your timing is perfect and you are way bigger than the things I face today. Thank you for being a God who loves us infinitely despite our worry. Lord, I want to believe you. Help my unbelief.  Thank you for your love and for being a God who cares about even the most intricate details of our lives, like our worries. Thank you for your goodness. I love you, God. Amen

Day 25

Scriptures: Romans 8:28, James 1:5

Experience Rescue //

Imagine a mountain lake on a crisp fall day. The crackling of the snow beneath my feet as I take it all in. Captivated by beauty. Every detail. The gorgeous blues and the white peaks. The green tips of the trees, the water almost frozen too. And then there’s the shadows: the dark parts. Jagged edges of rock define the mountainsides & bring more attention to the peaks!

How many times in life though, do we wrestle with the shadows and wish them away? We long for things to be a breeze, when much like this picture; if there weren’t any storms there wouldn’t be any beauty. The sights that cause us to stop and pay attention would be dull.  If it were grey all the time we wouldn’t get to appreciate the beauty produced by the storms.

Much like these mountains; had they not endured a storm, we wouldn’t get to experience the snow and the delight it is either! The challenging part of life comes when you’re in the thick of your storm, and you can’t seem to grab hold of anything to keep you from drowning. And while there will be an end, perhaps you’re doing all you can to hang on. You’re in the middle of what feels like the trial of your life just begging for air, wondering “When it will let up!?” Well, take heart my friend; there is rescue!!! A new morning will come and it will be glorious!

How do I know?!? “In every storm and heartache, he carried me, especially when I couldn’t carry myself—and he does the same for you.”

Feel completely helpless and hopeless for what’s to come? Know that God has a plan and it’s for good. Even if it means temporary disappointment for what He has around the corner! Perhaps His withholding now is to bring about a greater YES! You’re not forgotten in your disappointment. He knows exactly where you are, and He is simply ensuring that His best becomes ours.

As Christine Caine says it beautifully “God loves you. God is good, God does good, and God is always working all things for our good—even through all the unexpected events (Romans 8:28). He doesn’t cause bad things to happen, but he’s always there leading us, working in the midst of them for our good. He always has a plan, purpose & destiny for our lives regardless of what we see going on.”

Stay in the story. Experience the rescue!

RESPOND:

What part of your story have you considered just throwing in the towel?  Could it be God wants you to stay in the story just long enough so you can see his good and sweet plan come to pass?

As this devotional series nears an end, think about setting apart some time to reflect on what story you want to tell. If God is asking you to stay IN your story right now, what could that could look like? When you ask for wisdom, He promises to give it so even if the answers don’t come immediately, be assured they will come.

PRAYER:

Father, first off, thank you for being a good Father who does not willingly cause affliction but for one reason or another you allow it occasionally as you know it will deepen our character.  The storms we go through in life seem bearable when they don’t last long, but when they do last longer than we can see the ending; they feel overwhelming.  God help me to have your perspective in my journey right now. Help me to remember even despite disappointment, it’s only temporary and this too shall pass.  Lord give me the wisdom to see the future forward and what you want out of my story. Show me how I can best use my gifts and talents to honor you and point others to you as well.  Show me what part of my story I’m supposed to keep at, even despite trials, and help me to trust and bank on your promise that you are with me wherever I go.  That you do have plans and they’re for good. And you will work ALL things together for my good.  Thank you in advance for the courage, strength, and tenacity to endure the journey and help me to stay on the path you’ve set for my life. I trust you as I step forward and look forward to seeing what you hold for me this year. Jesus, thank you for your gift of eternal life and Holy Spirit, I ask for you to lead and guide me in the days to come. . . Amen

Day 26

Scripture: Isaiah 43:16-19

New Beginnings //

Thankful for new beginnings to look ahead to as we started the year off with great expectations for so many hopes and dreams to come to life and truly thrive, may this be a year you experience His fullness of promises fulfilled!

May your rescue be found in knowing your every step is known and He has a plan so good you would not believe it if you were told. May you see His true redemption from everything the locusts stole, and experience His complete restoration of all you’ve been stripped of! May you be encouraged that you have a faithful Father who works behind the scenes to work all things together for good for those who love him and are called according to his purpose! He cares about every detail and if He can part waters, cause manna to fall from heaven, set a blaze to a bush, heal the blind with one touch, rescue the rejected with one word, and conquer death, hell and the grave to RISE again; He CAN show his hand in your story.

Feel like you need a new beginning? This can be it!! Don’t look back; just keep moving forward with your eyes on Jesus and he will carry you into your best year yet….

“He who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters, who drew out the chariots and horses, the army and reinforcements together, and they lay there, never to rise again, extinguished, snuffed out like a wick: “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isa 43:16-19‬

RESPOND:

What are you hoping for the year ahead?

Take time to write down some BIG dreams and some little dreams.  After spending more than 20 days of dreaming, sorting through and hashing out hopes, dreams, fears, worries and doubt; will you choose to praise God for his faithfulness?  Choose to thank God for answers he set into motion even before you knew to ask.  Then choose to HOPE beyond ALL expectations that this CAN and this might just be your BEST YEAR YET!  I’m hoping with you friend for it being the year you see GOD show up in immeasurable ways!

PRAYER:

Well, Lord. This is it. The end of another journey of praying and processing and hoping for visions and dreams you’ve placed on my heart this season. Thank you for deeper times of reflection with you Father. Thank you for working on my behalf to orchestrate things to be exactly where they need to be for such a time as now!  God, give me the courage to look ahead and walk in reckless abandonment to YOU.  Let me be a reflection of you. Realign my dreams if they need to be adjusted and then show me where you’re working and how I can join you in the process. I know to you it’s not about the destination, it’s more about the journey, but it’s still easy to get focused on where we want to be. So, please let me keep my eyes on you and continue to walk one foot in front of the other, not dwelling on the past but perceiving the NEW THING you are doing. Lord thank you, for you are always faithful.  I love you Lord. Help me to live as though life were on purpose, and help me not to forget all of your incredible promises.  Amen.

Day 27

Scriptures: Hebrews 13:5, Joshua 1:5

BONUS REMINDERS //

Joshua had big shoes to follow in the footsteps of Moses. So did Elijah. So did Peter. But when you’ve experienced God and have a vision you’re seeking; it’s encouraging to know he is with you every step of the way! Check out how cool this is… Look at the passage below and how many times it says “I will not” in the amplified version of this passage…. Everything you have is within your reach; so embrace where you’re at and then go after it knowing you have a Heavenly Father to walk with you every step of the way and he will NOT leave you!

“Be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!] [Josh. 1:5.]” – Hebrews 13:5

Remember, even the days where it feels like the view is the same it isn’t! Think of it this way.  Perhaps your current view is more like a Ferris wheel rather than a merry-go-round! You may actually see the same view, but I bet you’re further along in the journey than the last time you saw the same view. Perhaps a little higher and a little closer to the top?!

Hold the vision. Trust the process.
