Day 1
Scriptures: James 1:17, Luke 6:38
In a world obsessed with self-reliance and personal achievement, it’s crucial to reflect on the stark contrast between the paths of self-made success and God-made abundance.
From a Christian perspective, there is profound wisdom to be found in understanding that these two approaches yield vastly different outcomes. While self-made endeavors may seem enticing by promising instant gratification, they often lead to failure and emptiness. On the other hand, embracing a God-made journey can lead to true success and an abundance that surpasses all expectations.
The allure of self-made success lies in the illusion of control and the desire for immediate results. Society often glorifies those who have seemingly achieved everything through their own efforts, attributing their accomplishments to personal drive and ambition. However, the Bible reminds us that we are finite beings, inherently flawed, and limited in our understanding. Relying solely on ourselves often leads to a narrow perspective, blind spots, and ultimately, disappointment. It is for this very reason that we often hear stories of famous, wealthy, and successful individuals lashing out, as the emptiness amongst the accolades proves to weigh heavier than their earthly possessions or acknowledgments.
In contrast, God-made success is rooted in recognizing our need for something greater than ourselves. It involves surrendering our pride and acknowledging that our abilities and achievements are gifts from a loving Creator. The biblical principle of seeking God’s guidance, following His will, and trusting in His divine plan opens up a world of possibilities beyond our comprehension.
It is through this alignment with God’s purpose that we can experience true fulfillment and a life of abundance, not just in this specific moment, but for all of eternity. A self-made life may lead to fame and fortune, but a God-made life is enriching and fulfilling.
A God-made life provides us with one thing that we as humans all yearn for:
Peace.
Day 2
Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 10:13, 1 Timothy 6:9
The pursuit of self-made success often leads to a relentless chase for temporary pleasures, as the world entices us with immediate gratification. Every day, we are walking amidst sin of every kind. As we fall deeper into the pursuit of self-made success, these sins can envelope us if we allow them to. Unfortunately, this is the trap that many fall victim to throughout the seasons of their lives. The decision to set out on our own and rely on our own power can prove to be a costly mistake.
And, while sin may appear pleasurable for a season, it ultimately leaves us feeling empty and unsatisfied. It is never enough, and the emptiness that we fill with sin has not diminished. In contrast, God-made success invites us to seek a higher purpose, one that transcends momentary pleasures and aligns with God’s eternal principles. By living according to His commandments and seeking His righteousness, we find lasting joy, peace, and contentment.
Embracing a God-made journey requires humility, faith, and perseverance. It means acknowledging that our own efforts will always fall short without the guiding hand of the Divine. As we surrender our plans to God and trust in His sovereignty, we allow Him to work wonders in our lives. His wisdom, provision, and grace surpass anything we could achieve with our own abilities. By setting aside our own ego, expectations, and understanding, we allow Him to take the reigns and lead us towards a better life.
Remember, true success lies not in our self-made endeavors but instead in embracing the God-made journey. May we find the courage to let go of our own limited human understanding so that we may allow God to lead us into a life of true fulfillment and abundant blessings.
Day 3
Scriptures: John 16:33, Jeremiah 1:5
In the pursuit of success, we often find ourselves pondering the age-old question: What truly determines our destiny?
Is it our own relentless effort and determination, or is it the divine hand of fate guiding us? The debate between self-made and God-made has raged on, but perhaps the answer lies in a harmonious blend of the two.
It is undeniable that self-made individuals possess an unwavering drive, an unyielding spirit that propels them forward against all odds. They are the architects of their own success, crafting their dreams with unwavering dedication and perseverance. Through their hard work, they shape their own destinies, overcoming obstacles and transforming challenges into opportunities. These self-made individuals inspire us to believe in the power of human potential and the strength that lies within each of us. It isn’t something to take lightly; it is an impressive feat.
However, amidst the pursuit of worldly success, we must not forget the divine presence that surrounds us. For it is in acknowledging the hand of God in our lives that we discover the true meaning of success. True success is not merely measured by material wealth or accolades, but by the impact we have on others and the fulfillment we find in our hearts. It is the alignment of our ambitions with a higher purpose—a purpose that transcends our personal desires and serves the greater good.
Yet, there is a temptation that we all face on this journey—a temptation to stray from the path of righteousness. Sin, in its allure, promises pleasures and instant gratification, but it is only a fleeting illusion. It is a mirage that fades with time, leaving us empty and unfulfilled. The pursuit of true success requires us to resist these temptations to choose the path less traveled, guided by the values and principles that define our character.
It’s not easy, but no one said that success would be.
With God in the driver’s seat, however, success is not only possible but expected.
Day 4
Scriptures: Psalms 128:2, Proverbs 16:3
In the intertwining of the self-made and God-made, we discover a synergy that propels us towards true success. It is the realization that our own efforts, when aligned with divine guidance, can manifest miracles. The greatest achievements in life are often born from the marriage of human ambition and divine intervention.
So, let us embrace the spirit of self-made determination, working tirelessly towards our goal. But let us also humbly acknowledge the presence of a higher power, seeking guidance and drawing strength from the divine. As we navigate the complexities of life, let us remember that true success lies not in the accumulation of wealth or fame but in the impact we make on the world and the lives we touch.
Believe in your ability to shape your own destiny, but also in the wisdom of surrendering to a higher purpose. Embrace the challenges that come your way, for they are the stepping stones that lead to growth and transformation. And, as you resist the allure of temporary pleasures, remember that true success is an enduring journey that requires steadfast faith, unwavering perseverance, and a heart filled with love. Invite God into your drive for success. Allow Him to have the final say, and seek the wisdom to listen to Him when He is leading us to or from other paths. Let Him take the driver’s seat.
You are the architect of your own life, and with God’s grace, your dreams will flourish.
Embrace the power within you and let it shine brightly, illuminating the path to true success for yourself and those around you.
Day 5
Scriptures: Proverbs 16:9, Philippians 4:6-7
When I think of the concept of being “self-made,” I don’t really think about a nice sports car or a big house.
When I think about being “self-made,” I remember when I had lost everything.
In a two-month period, my family and I were evicted from our apartment and had two cars repossessed. Somehow, my wife and I managed to scrape up $500 and purchase a small car. The car had no a/c, and it was not something that I was particularly happy for my wife and I to be stuck in.
That situation was self-made. Because of my actions, I experienced these things. My own choices nearly cost me my marriage. That was me following my plans, my decisions, relying on my own ability, and not allowing God into the equation. A “self-made” lifestyle led to these results.
Being self-made is fleeting. It will not stand the test of time. Like an intricate sandcastle, it may look better for some than others, but when the tide comes in, it will crumble just like the rest. God-made success is everlasting.
God-made success is abundant. He provides more than enough. Self-made success, however, is never enough. We’re always chasing for more, never feeling truly fulfilled or happy.
Why settle for waves of successful seasons when God wants to provide us with long-term, consistent success?
I’m not saying that we shouldn’t work hard and take the initiative needed to reach success. Instead, I’m saying that we should not be enticed by self-gratifying decisions and behaviors. Embracing true, God-made success leads to abundance and, perhaps more importantly, a lasting sense of inner peace.
It is He who knows what’s best, not us.
It is He who has already witnessed our journey carried out, not us.
It is He who knows what our potential is and He who knows how to unlock it.
We have to shirk our demand for control and our want for instant gratification.
Surrender them to God so that you may experience an abundant life, far from what we can create on our own.
We must let go of our limited understanding and allow God, who is unlimited, to lead us into a life of true fulfillment and abundant blessings.
