The Fatherhood of God

One of the things a lot of people have battled with over the years is the understanding of who God is. This plan aims to shed light on the consistent nature of God.

Day 1

Scriptures: Romans 8:14-16, Acts 17:27, Acts 11:26, Isaiah 45:4

NAMED BY THE FATHER

God is God to everyone and a Father to believers – the ones whom He has adopted as Sons. “For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” Rom 8:15 NKJV

God’s relationship with you as a believer goes beyond being your Creator. He is our Father, and we have received the authority to be called His Sons through faith in Christ.

The identity of the child comes from the Father. Therefore, as children of God, we must look to God to know our identity. The truth of who we are is written in His Word.

A particular scene from the iconic movie The Lion King comes to mind. The protagonist (Simba), having long been estranged from his childhood home, meets with another character from his childhood (Rafiki), who leads him to see a reflection of himself in a body of water. As Simba peers closely, he begins to see the image of his beloved Father. Even so, Jesus, who is the Word God, is the reflection and identity of the believer, so when we study the Word, we see who we really are in Christ.

And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.” – II Cor 3:18 AMPC

We see from the Bible where the men of Antioch referred to men who were behaving like Christ as “Christians.” While this is not incorrect, God calls you so much more – He calls you by His own name!

He calls you Accepted in the Beloved.

He calls you Chosen.

He calls you Forgiven.

He calls you Righteous.

He calls you His Son.

In our world today, people are typically labelled and described by their actions or situations. Go through this day knowing that your actions do not define you. Reject any label that is at variance with the truth of God’s Word concerning your identity.

You have been named by the Father!

Declaration:

God is my Father.

I am His Child.

I am passionately loved by God.

I am powerfully helped by God.

I can never be stranded because my Father will always come through for me.

Grace is working for me!

Day 2

Scriptures: Romans 8:16, Daniel 11:32, Romans 8:35-39, Luke 12:32, Ephesians 1:3, Romans 5:17

CHOSEN BY THE FATHER

When Apostle Paul wrote of adoption, he addressed an audience that understood that adoption involved a deliberate process of selection and choice.

God selected you as His own and joined you to Himself through Christ. He has given you His name. God has given you His Word and placed His Spirit in you. Through this union with Him, His possibilities are your possibilities! You are as limitless as your Father!

“ For he knew all about us before we were born and he destined us from the beginning to share the likeness of his Son. This means the Son is the oldest among a vast family of brothers and sisters who will become just like him. Having determined our destiny ahead of time, he called us to himself and transferred his perfect righteousness to everyone he called. And those who possess his perfect righteousness he co-glorified with his Son!”. – Romans 8:29-30 TPT

Dearly Beloved, if you ever experience a feeling of condemnation or fear, simply look to the word of God and remind yourself that you were chosen by the Father, just as you are, to be His – adopted, blood begotten, and irrevocably redeemed. God does not love you because Jesus died for you; Jesus died for you because God loves youIf you were the only one on earth, Jesus would have still died.

“But God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him”. – Romans 5:8 MSG

You were deliberately handpicked by the Father!

Declaration:

God is my Father.

As He is, so am I.

His greatness is for my benefit, even here and now.

I am passionately loved by God.

I enjoy angelic assistance.

I am irrevocably blessed.

God’s possibilities are my possibilities.

I live in the greatness of my Father.

Grace is working for me!

Day 3

Scriptures: Matthew 7:9-11, Hebrews 1:1-2, James 1:17-18, 1 Samuel 16:14-15, Matthew 8:16, 1 John 1:5

MY FATHER IS ALWAYS GOOD

God is full of compassion, grace, love, and mercy. Quite literally, there is no room for hatred in Him. Psalm 86:15.

The nature of our Father is constant – He is always good.

The enemy wants you to live with a blurred /distorted image of the Father. Through negative experiences or incorrectly interpreted scriptures, he seeks to portray God as a Father with occasional fits of violence or underlying anger issues.

One such misrepresentation was the account of Saul’s servants in the Bible, where it is recorded that an “evil spirit from God” tormented Saul (1 Samuel 16:15). Because they typically attributed every supernatural occurrence as a doing of the Lord without a proper understanding of the actions of the devil, Saul’s servants assumed it was God who had indeed dispatched an evil spirit to torment Saul.

There is no evil in God.

When we look at Jesus – the express image of God – we see how good our Father is and His true nature.

Everywhere Jesus went, He did good. He healed the sick and cast out demons.

Jesus is the good shepherd whose faithfulness is not predicated on our behavior. It is His nature to be faithful.

We only need to read the Scriptures through the lens of Christ to see God’s plan and fulfillment of salvation right from the beginning to end.

Beloved, no matter your story, God your Father loves you and will bring a beautiful message from whatever “mess” you seem to be going through. He will bring glory from your story because He is in the business of always doing good.

Your Father is always good!

Declaration:

I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

I am the redeemed of the Lord.

All my sins are forgiven.

I am passionately loved by God.

I am powerfully helped by God.

I am kept and protected by God.

I enjoy angelic assistance.

I am irrevocably blessed.

I am eternally forgiven.

I am healed of the Lord.

I enjoy divine health.

I have the favour and wisdom of God.

I am fruitful; I flourish, excel, and prosper in all that I do.

Nothing is against me.

Nothing dies in my hands.

I am never stranded.

All things are working for my good.

God loves me more than the devil hates me.

Grace is working for me!
