Day 1
Scripture: Colossians 3:14
Welcome to your seven-day guided prayer devotional for praying for your husband! These prayers are short, rooted in the Bible, and meant to meet your heart as you pray for the man God entrusted to you.
For a deeper dive in this seven-day guide, take time to sit with the scripture at the end of each prayer. Write down your thoughts and speak God’s truth over your marriage aloud. God and His word are the only things powerful enough to change people at a heart level.
Personalize your prayers:
· Say your husband’s name in place of “husband”
· Write down the day’s prayer in a journal and add your specific prayer requests for the topic
The hope behind this plan is that these short prayers and scriptures will cause you to lean into Jesus, trust the Lord with your husband’s life, and stir the desire to continue intentionally praying for him beyond these seven days.
You will find a daily challenge at the end of each devotion. I know some days it will feel difficult to carry out because I have been there. Yet, in these moments when we choose obedience to God over our feelings, our hearts are drawn closer to Him and our husband.
______
Loving Him Well
Lord, I pray that my heart would lean into you more than anyone or anything else. Jesus, give me a deep desire to love my husband the way you’ve called me to. Guide my heart as I love him out of obedience to you and not solely based on the way he serves me. I pray that my husband would feel seen, heard, and respected by me. I pray that his heart would experience you in a new way today and seek you above all things. In Jesus’ name, amen.
And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. Colossians 3:14
Day 1 challenge:
Leave your husband a note where he’ll see it first thing in the morning telling him something you love about him.
Day 2
Scripture: 1 John 4:19
Letting Him Lead
Heavenly Father, I pray my husband would have the desire to love and lead our family in the way you command him—with a firm faith, honor, and intention. God, I pray that you forgive me as I surrender my desire to control him and at times passively point out when he fails. I ask that you fill my heart with the peace that surpasses all understanding as I place my husband back in your hands and trust you with his heart. Help me choose to love him as he grows in leading me as his wife. In Jesus’ name, amen.
We love because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19
Day 2 challenge:
In face-to-face conversation, encourage your husband by letting him know how thankful you are for him.
Day 3
Scripture: Galatians 5:25
A Man on Mission for the Kingdom
Lord Jesus, I ask that you guide my husband’s heart as he becomes a man on mission for you. I pray for Your boldness to flow through his life and bless those around him. I ask that in every encounter he has today, you would give him an opportunity to show Christ. May your words be in his mouth, his hands be tethered to your heart, and his feet in step with your spirit. In Jesus’ name, amen.
If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. Galatians 5:25
Day 3 challenge:
Make today’s mission be to boldly serve your husband. Prep his morning coffee, make his favorite meal, or pick up his favorite treat for after dinner.
Day 4
Scripture: Romans 12:9-10
A Cover of Protection
Lord, I ask that you cover my husband with a hedge of protection. I know the enemy comes to steal and destroy, but Jesus came that we may experience light and life. I pray for Your light to permeate and remove any plot the enemy is scheming against my husband. I pray in the mighty name of Jesus that the gates of hell shall not prevail against our marriage. Lord, give us both the desire to live first and foremost to honor You and second, to honor one another the way you have called us. May our marriage be a place of safety and security. Lord, may our marriage always be rooted in Your firm foundation. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Romans 12:9-10
Day 4 challenge:
Honor your husband by honoring your time with him. Leave your phone on the kitchen counter this evening and intentionally pursue time with him.
Day 5
Scripture: Psalms 139:14
Healthy in Body and Spirit
Lord, I ask that you give my husband a life blessed with good health. I pray that he would always value his health; both spiritually and physically, for that is where your spirit dwells. I ask you to remind him that when you knit him in his mother’s womb you deemed him “wonderfully made” and wonderful are your works. I pray that he feels desired, loved, and pursed by me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:14
Day 5 challenge:
Invite your husband to try something new with you. Whether it be physical exercise, mental exercise, spiritual exercise, or all the above, time like this together will be a blessing to your marriage.
Day 6
Scripture: Psalms 91:11
His Trust in the Lord
Lord, I come before you today and ask that my husband would trust you in the areas he struggles with. Jesus, I pray that he would know you see him, hear him, and desire to reveal yourself to him. I pray he knows you pursue him all the days of his life. In seasons when stress feels heavy and his thoughts are swirling, I pray a blanket of peace would cover him. I pray in those moments of worry he will find your Word on his tongue. I ask that my husband sense you in an undeniable way today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. Psalm 91:11
Day 6 challenge:
Let your husband know you’re praying for him today.
Day 7
Scripture: Mark 10:8
Christ-Centered Intimacy
Lord, I come before you and ask that you would bless the intimacy between me and my husband. I pray the most sacred and humbling part of our marriage would be a blessing to both of us. I ask that our hearts would feel closer and desire to be more intentional in this area together. This gift is where two physically become one in the flesh and I pray we never forget that. May our marriage always glorify and honor you in the ways you designed it to be. In Jesus’ name, amen.
And the two shall become one flesh. So they are no longer two but one flesh. Mark 10:8
Day 7 challenge:
Intentionally pursue your husband today. Greet him with a hug and a kiss. Let him know that you desire intimacy with him emotionally and physically.
