Cast Your Care

Jesus cares for each and every one of us, and he invites you and me to bring to him our worries and anxieties of the world and lay them at his feet. In this plan, we will look at how casting our care and trusting God can help improve your overall mental health and well-being.

The Drugless Doctor

Day 1

Scripture: 1 Peter 5:7

He Cares for You

1 Peter 5:7 NIV: “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

Close your eyes for a moment and say out loud: God cares for me!

Sometimes, no matter how long we have had a relationship with Jesus, it’s hard to imagine that he cares for the big and small things we go through daily. And some of those things we go through daily can cause us to feel stressed, anxious, and even worried. Yet, it’s up to us to SPEAK this verse out loud if and when those feelings persist. I often say, “Lord, I am bringing my worries to you today, and I thank you for caring for me,” then I list everyone – as some days are longer than others. But once I complete the day’s care, I feel refreshed since I gave them to Him. Amen to that.

In my practice, I daily see how anxiety disrupts God’s will for divine health in one’s life. There are glands that are called adrenal glands (or stress glands), and they use a protein called L-Tyrosine. Your body needs this to create the “feel-good” hormones. If you can minimize stress and learn your tyrosine levels, this is a wise step to helping anxiety. If you find yourself getting dizzy from a sit-to-stand position, craving salty foods, or being sensitive to bright light, you may consider viewing information on adrenal health found on my website.

As we conclude Day One, let us pray that when we cast our care, we also ask for wisdom on how we can walk in divine health.

Day 2

Scriptures: Jeremiah 29:11, Proverbs 3:5-6, 3 John 1:2

He Cares for Your Plans

Jeremiah 29:11 NIV: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

How great is it that the Lord’s plans for us include prosperity, hope, and a future? That is pretty exciting. Then why do we get anxious when those plans are not going in the direction we want them to? From past and present personal experience, I will say our (mine, too!) trust needs to be with the Lord. It’s much more freeing to put complete trust in Him, as any anxiety is minimized, knowing He is in control.

When we don’t trust His plans for our lives, anxiety finds a way to take root, and that is not ideal for optimal health and well-being. If you are someone with constant anxiety, this creates stress on your immune function. Long-term anxiety could catapult us into a long journey of chronic sickness, which is not how God intends for us to live. One way to build up your body’s strength is to limit sugar intake and increase water consumption so your cells may thrive.

For today’s prayer, focus on giving complete trust to the Lord as He directs your steps towards a healthy hope and future.

Day 3

Scriptures: 1 Kings 19:3-9, Romans 15:5, Romans 8:26-27

He Encourages Us

In 1 Kings 19:4-5, Elijah said, “My stress is too much for me to bear.” God encouraged him, and he found rest in God’s presence.

When you have found yourself in stressful situations that are causing your eye to twitch, sleepless nights, and overall anxiety – you could use some encouragement in any form or fashion. God does just that through the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:26 says, “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.” How comforting to know that the Holy Spirit is interceding on our behalf. Every day, there are times when I do not know what to pray for specifically, but I trust today and will trust tomorrow, regardless of how nervous any situation in life may cause me to be.

Speaking of “nervous,” – if you have found yourself having raw nerves or crying easily, these are body signals of a vitamin B deficiency, which occurs when you are under stress. You may consider limiting your sugar intake and anything that may cause harm to body function. I encourage you to get between 7-8 hours of sleep per night and cast your care before bed.

For today’s prayer, let’s pray for God to show us someone who may need encouragement, and then let’s be the ones to lend support.

Day 4

Scriptures: Matthew 6:34, Proverbs 18:21, Luke 6:45

Speak Life Over Yourself

Matthew 6:34 NIV: “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Newsflash: God knows that we will have trouble daily. I would much rather ask Him for help than figure it out on my own, even at 70! However, it was not always like that in my life. What changed was that when I started speaking God’s promises over my life, anxiety and depression began to leave. We are victorious, and we cannot let the enemy take ground over our lives. If you are feeling anxious today, I will leave you with these encouraging Bible verses to bring hope and give you peace:

Deuteronomy 28:13 NIV: “The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom.”

Romans 8:28 ESV: “And we know that for those who love God, all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

Psalm 13:6 BSB: “I will sing to the Lord, for He has been good to me.”

I trust that you will cast your care to the Lord every day. Thank you for joining me in this plan!
