• Background: In 2018, Sean Gardner was hired at Chow’s Gymnastics in Iowa—a prestigious academy known for training Olympic champions. He quickly gained key responsibilities, including leading a major junior meet and coaching promising young gymnasts.

• Allegations Surface (2022): Gardner was first reported to the U.S. Center for SafeSport in 2022 by a gymnast claiming he inappropriately touched her during training. A second athlete later made similar accusations, involving both sexual misconduct and physical harm. SafeSport acted with a suspension, banning him from contact with athletes.

• Investigation Stalls: With no criminal charges initiated due to victims’ reluctance to come forward, the case remained dormant for over a year, despite the serious nature of the allegations.

• Renewed Report & Arrest (2024–2025): In April 2024, a former student courageously revisited her experience, prompting renewed investigations. In May 2025, a search warrant led authorities to discover hundreds of explicit images and videos—some surreptitiously filmed in a Mississippi gym bathroom.
