On Wednesday around midday, a student at Evergreen High School, just outside Denver, shot two fellow students and then later died by suicide, according to authorities.
All told, three students—including the one who fired the shots—were critically wounded. They were hospitalized at St. Anthony’s hospital; doctors confirmed their condition as serious.
The shooting occurred both inside and outside the school grounds at about 12:24‑12:30 p.m., according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. There was a massive response—over 100 law enforcement officers arrived at the scene
Authorities say none of the responding officers fired shots during the incident.
Given the severity of injuries, law enforcement is investigating motive, searching the suspect’s home, car, and locker.
The community is deeply shaken. Parents gathered at a nearby elementary school for reunification. School is suspended, and local leaders including the governor have expressed sorrow and called for school safety.
