ICE Arrests Terror-Tied Illegal Alien Driving 18-Wheeler In Red State

Federal immigration officials have apprehended a terrorism suspect from Uzbekistan who managed to enter the United States illegally, obtain a trucking job, and even secure a commercial driver’s license in Pennsylvania—all before being located and arrested. The case is expected to intensify public frustration over reports of undocumented migrants driving large commercial trucks on U.S. highways.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents detained 31-year-old Akhror Bozorov in Kansas on November 9. Authorities in Uzbekistan had issued a warrant for him two years earlier, alleging that he was involved with a terrorist organization. Their accusations claim he distributed jihadist propaganda online and attempted to recruit others into extremist activities.

His situation has emerged at a time when many Americans are increasingly worried about state motor vehicle agencies issuing commercial driver’s licenses to migrants whose backgrounds may not have been thoroughly vetted. Recent public opinion surveys indicate that a strong majority now opposes permitting any non-citizens with unclear histories to operate heavy trucks on American roadways.

Despite those concerns, Bozorov had been living in the U.S. without restrictions and working legally. Pennsylvania granted him a CDLduring Gov. Josh Shapiro’s administration, and the federal government approved his work authorization in January 2024. In reaction to the revelations, Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin sharply criticized the Biden administration, arguing that not only was Bozorov released into the country after being caught crossing the border, but he was later allowed to obtain the qualifications required to drive an 18-wheeler. She said it should be obvious that individuals flagged as terrorism suspects should never be granted such privileges. McLaughlin also accused President Biden and DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas of enabling dangerous individuals to slip into the country, contrasting their policies with Trump administration officials who she said empowered ICE to aggressively pursue national security threats.

Bozorov first crossed the southwest border illegally in February 2023, where he was initially detained by Border Patrol. Under current federal procedures, however, he was later released inside the country while his case was processed. ICE officials say he is now being held in custody as they begin removal proceedings against him.
