A Louisiana woman is facing fraud charges after allegedly collecting Medicaid benefits while leading a lavish lifestyle—including buying a Lamborghini. Candace Taylor, 35, of Slidell, was arrested Monday, earning the nickname “Medicaid millionaire” from the office of Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill.

An investigation was launched after the Louisiana Health Department reported that Taylor had significantly underreported her income to qualify for Medicaid, a health program meant for low-income individuals.

According to investigators, from 2021 to 2024, Taylor regularly moved large sums of money between her personal and business accounts, consistently receiving more than what is allowed under Medicaid income guidelines.

Taylor first applied for Medicaid in 2019 using the alias “Candace Sailor,” claiming she earned $1,900 every two weeks and had no dependents. That application was denied. She applied again under the same incorrect name in 2020, this time with inconsistent information about having dependents.

Authorities later uncovered that Taylor owned six businesses that brought in over $9.5 million between 2020 and 2024. Her accounts showed nearly $481,000 in deposits, with over $325,000 traced directly to business income.

Her spending included more than $45,000 in car payments to Audi Finance and a $100,000 wire transfer to exotic car dealer Tactical Fleet. She also used a debit card to buy a 2022 Lamborghini Urus for $13,000. Additional large withdrawals reportedly went toward luxury items such as jewelry, property, cosmetic surgery, and other high-end purchases.

Despite her wealth, Taylor attempted to renew her Medicaid benefits just two months after buying the Lamborghini, claiming she earned $4,000 per month from a business—without disclosing that she was the owner.

Authorities also noted that Taylor showcased her luxury lifestyle on social media, which further supported the fraud allegations.
