A 22-year-old man from Hooksett, New Hampshire, named Tristan Anderson, has been arrested on felony charges after allegedly threatening to assassinate Governor Kelly Ayotte using a homemade pipe bomb. The arrest occurred on August 28, 2025, following a tip from Anderson’s roommate, who reported disturbing conversations and materials to the authorities.

According to a criminal complaint, Anderson communicated via Snapchat, stating, “I’m going to target the NH Mayor Kelly Ayott… With my weapon of mass destruction.” He also made antisemitic remarks, including references to an “Israel Deep State” and derogatory comments about Jewish individuals. The roommate informed police that Anderson had access to firearms and had shown her metal tubes, nuts, bolts, and dismantled fireworks, which he allegedly intended to use in constructing the device. Authorities also discovered that Anderson had purchased fireworks and was in the process of disassembling them to create the pipe bombs.

Anderson faces charges of criminal threatening and threatening a government official, both serious felonies under New Hampshire law. He remains in custody without bail and is scheduled for a dispositional conference on November 20.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns about political violence in the United States. Just a week earlier, conservative activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated during a speaking event at Utah Valley University, underscoring the escalating threats against public figures across the political spectrum.

Governor Ayotte, a Republican and former U.S. senator, was elected in the previous year after defeating Democrat Joyce Craig. In response to the threat, her office has not yet issued a public statement.

The case underscores the importance of vigilance and cooperation between the public and law enforcement in preventing political violence and ensuring the safety of elected officials.
