In Grand Blanc Township, Genesee County, Michigan, police responded Sunday morning to reports of an active shooter at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints on McCandlish Road. Multiple people were wounded, though authorities have not yet confirmed the total number of victims.
When officers arrived, the church was already engulfed in flames. Officials said the shooter is down and that there is no ongoing threat to the wider public.
Residents in the vicinity have been advised to stay clear of the area as first responders work to secure the scene.
To assist those affected, officials have set up a reunification point for people who were on site—at the pavilion just north of the church. For those coming from outside, the designated location is the Trillium movie theater at 8220 Trillium Circle Avenue.
Investigations are underway, and authorities have called the situation “dynamic”; more information will be released as more facts emerge.
