In Tallahassee, Florida, a judge has placed Rep. Cory Mills under a restraining order after a former girlfriend accused him of threatening to share sexually explicit videos she had sent him.
Circuit Judge Fred Koberlein ruled that Mills must not contact Lindsey Langston—who is Miss United States 2024 and a Republican state committeewoman—and he must stay away from her home, workplace, and block any direct references to her on social media. In his decision, the judge found Langston’s claim that Mills inflicted “substantial emotional distress” credible and stated that Mills failed to present any convincing counter-evidence. The court also concluded that, absent the order, Langston had reasonable grounds to fear further acts of dating violence.
The injunction is effective throughout Florida and will last until January 2026. During the hearings, both sides testified and attorneys presented extensive communications—including texts and calls—detailing their history. Mills denied retaining the videos, claiming his phone was damaged, and dismissed a message referencing a “strap up cowboy” as slang, not a threat.
This legal action comes amid other controversies surrounding Mills: a prior, now-withdrawn assault allegation and an ethics inquiry centering on whether he unduly benefited from federal contracts while in Congress. He has denied all misconduct.
