California law enforcement is investigating after gunfire struck the Sacramento ABC affiliate station, ABC10 (KXTV), on Friday afternoon. According to authorities, shortly after 1:30 p.m., at least three bullets were fired into a ground-floor window of the station’s building on Broadway. At the time, employees were inside; thankfully, no one was hurt.
The incident appears to have been a drive-by shooting, but investigators have not yet determined whether it was random or targeted. No suspects have been identified, and no motive has been confirmed.
Interestingly, this shooting happened one day after about 15 protesters gathered outside the station. They were protesting ABC’s decision to suspend “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” indefinitely. That suspension followed backlash over comments Kimmel made concerning the recent murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk and the alleged killer, Tyler Robinson.
The station is owned by Tegna, which is in the process of being purchased by Nexstar Media Group in a multibillion‑dollar deal. While the building was occupied at the time of the shooting, Tegna confirmed that all employees were safe and that it is cooperating fully with law enforcement. Security measures at the station are being reviewed and enhanced.
