During an appearance on The Lex Fridman Podcast, former President Donald Trump said he would have “no problem” releasing additional government files related to Jeffrey Epstein, including an alleged client list, if elected.
Trump stated he never visited Epstein’s private island and denied any involvement, while claiming that many prominent figures had gone there. He described Epstein as a “good salesman” who attracted influential people with his wealth and properties.
Epstein previously pleaded guilty in 2008 to prostitution-related charges and served 18 months in jail. He was arrested again in 2019 on sex trafficking charges involving underage girls and later died in a Manhattan jail cell; his death was ruled a suicide.
Trump also referenced newly unsealed court documents connected to a defamation lawsuit filed by Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre against Ghislaine Maxwell, which named numerous high-profile individuals linked to Epstein. Calling the situation “very interesting,” Trump said he would be inclined to review and potentially release the Epstein files, similar to his stated intention to declassify records related to John F. Kennedy.
