Trump touts Brown University settlement: ‘Woke is officially DEAD’

President Donald Trump applauded Brown University on Thursday after the school reached an agreement with his administration to reinstate federal funding, marking another victory in his broader effort to reshape higher education.

“Congratulations to Brown University on the settlement made with the United States Government. There will be no more Anti-Semitism, or Anti-Christian, or Anti-Anything Else!” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Woke is officially DEAD at Brown. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

The agreement, announced Wednesday, ends three federal investigations into whether Brown was violating anti-discrimination laws. As part of the deal, the university will regain access to $500 million in federal funds and will be allowed to apply for new grants.

In return, Brown has agreed to several conditions: it will contribute $50 million to workforce development programs in Rhode Island, maintain separate athletic facilities for men and women, and prohibit its health system from providing puberty blockers or performing gender-transition procedures on minors.

The university also committed to eliminating programs that aim for “unlawful race-based outcomes,” implementing admissions policies based on merit, and submitting compliance data to the government.

In a message to students and staff, Brown President Christina Paxson said the university is committed to protecting all members of its community from discrimination and ensuring academic freedom. “By voluntarily entering this agreement, we meet those dual obligations,” Paxson wrote.

This resolution follows a similar agreement between Columbia University and the administration, which included a fine exceeding $200 million. Negotiations between the administration and Harvard are also underway to lift a separate freeze on federal funding.
