Ghislaine Maxwell’s Interview with the DOJ
In a two-day July 2025 interview in Tallahassee, supervised by Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, Ghislaine Maxwell—serving a 20-year sentence for her role in Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking—unequivocally stated she never witnessed President Donald Trump acting inappropriately at any point during their social interactions. “Absolutely never, in any context,” she said when asked whether she’d heard about Trump engaging in inappropriate behavior or receiving massages from Epstein’s circle.

Maxwell described the former president as consistently polite and cordial.
In addition, she rejected the existence of any so-called “Epstein client list,” calling speculation about it akin to a “Salem witch trial.”

Limited New Revelations, Amid Political Undercurrents
Maxwell offered little new regarding other wealthy individuals linked to Epstein, such as Bill Clinton or Prince Andrew. Her denials largely reinforced Trump’s attempts to distance himself from past associations with Epstein. The DOJ released the transcripts amid mounting public and political pressure to disclose more documents related to the Epstein case.

Political Reactions and Implications
Supporters of Trump, especially within MAGA circles, quickly shared the transcript excerpts to reinforce his innocence in the Epstein matter. Critics, however, questioned Maxwell’s credibility—citing her criminal convictions and motivations to curry favor.
Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe flagged the tone of the interview as suspicious, noting how unprompted praise for Trump may reflect tactical positioning, especially given that the interviews were made public unusually swiftly.

Next Steps and Oversight
The DOJ has begun releasing documents from the Epstein case to the Republican-controlled House Oversight Committee, which plans to vet and release them publicly after redacting sensitive material. President Trump publicly welcomed the transparency, calling criticism that he was shielding powerful figures “a hoax.”
