Magazines, influencers, blogs, trends. The beautiful is defined. Success is prescribed. The different is provided. Even when society shouts comparison, God whispers acceptance.

Day 1

Scriptures: Galatians 6:4-5, 2 Corinthians 10:12, 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12, James 3:16

THE OTHERS

We constantly find ourselves looking at pictures of celebrities. The life that shows up on social media seems more interesting than our own life. For a moment, we even imagine how good it would be to have everything the other has, or do what the other does. Some people go even further, wondering what it would be like to be someone else. We spend hours researching everything about the life of other people. We give our point of view, opinions, and come to our own conclusions. It’s like we are in a “pause” of our own reality.

The hard part is when the “play” begins as it causes reality to seem dull. Our bodies look uglier, our talents seem small, and our lives seem so… ordinary.

Magazines, influencers, blogs, trends. The beautiful is defined. Success is prescribed. The different is provided. Even when society shouts comparison, God whispers acceptance.

Day 2

Scriptures: Romans 12:2-8, Galatians 1:10, Psalms 37:5

YOU

Obviously, we need to set our examples and choose people who inspire us. The danger is when the admiration becomes comparison, invading our space, life, and how we see ourselves. Never should we allow someone else’s life be more wanted than our own. As we look on the outside, we forget what we have on the inside.

Do not lose your essence by trying to copy someone while you don’t yet know yourself completely. Instead of setting yourself up as someone else, train yourself to love even more. God, on purpose, did not. It’s not about what you can have, but it’s about who you are and what you do with it. It doesn’t matter what others are doing. Begin using what you have. As you look at the world, the world is waiting for you.

Day 3

Scriptures: 2 Corinthians 10:17-18, 1 Corinthians 11:1, Jeremiah 29:11, Proverbs 3:5-6

JESUS

If you want to compare yourself to someone, I’ll introduce you to Jesus. He is the only One we need to be imitators of. God has given us a perfect model so that we don’t waste time with others—a model that can be unattainable, yet real at the same time. Jesus urges us to be better and shows us how to find our best.

He is not only good, but He is the perfect example of goodness. He is not just loving, but He is love. Jesus lived in our midst just to show us what it’s like to live. Do not waste time with faulty and selfish people. If you really want to follow someone—follow Jesus.

Do not compare yourself to others—stand out! Do not waste time on someone else’s life—focus on yours! God did not create you to be a copy, a draft, or a version, but a unique piece in constant construction and always original.
