Do you struggle with impure thoughts or sexual strongholds and want to cry out to God for deliverance but do not know what to pray? If you are ready to overcome sexual temptation, this Bible plan is for you. Over the next seven days, we will provide you with key Bible verses and effective prayers to help you receive the grace and strength to walk in sexual purity and holiness.
JOURNEY TO PURITY
Day 1
Scriptures: 1 Thessalonians 5:22-24, James 4:7, Psalms 116:8
Father God, I thank You for the grace to live a life of holiness. I commit to honoring You with my mind, body, and soul. In 1 Thessalonians 5:22, Your Word instructs us to “abstain from all appearance of evil.” I ask that You strengthen and empower me to avoid anything that might lead me to stray from You. I submit myself to You and stand on Your promise according to James 4:7, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
I ask that You forgive my sins and help me walk in a way pleasing in Your sight. Purify my heart. Sanctify me wholly. I believe that You have forgiven and healed me. I will walk in the freedom that You’ve given me through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
In Jesus’ matchless name, I pray. Amen.
Day 2
Scriptures: James 1:12-15, Colossians 3:5, Philippians 4:8, Hebrews 5:12-14
Abba Father, thank you for the mercy, loving-kindness, compassion, and grace You’ve shown towards me. You, O Lord, are faithful and just. Because of Your Word in James 1:13-14, I am fully aware that You do not tempt me to sin, but I am led away by my lustful desires. I humble myself before You to repent of my sins and ask that You increase my discernment to identify and avoid temptation before it traps me.
I bring every demonic word or thought pattern into captivity to the obedience of Jesus Christ. Father, help me to think about what is true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report (Philippians 4:8). Remove any distractions that would cause me to neglect spending personal time in prayer and studying the Bible daily. So, I may grow in my knowledge and understanding of Your Word. May I glorify You in all I say and do.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Day 3
Scriptures: Deuteronomy 31:8, John 15:10, Galatians 1:10, Joshua 24:15, Proverbs 4:23-27
Father, I thank You that I can always trust in You because Your Word promises that You will never leave me nor forsake me (Deuteronomy 31:8). Thank You for loving me in such a way I cannot even fully comprehend. Remind me of Your great love for me whenever I am discouraged and feel alone and unloved. Strengthen me to keep Your commandments so I may abide in Your love; even as Jesus kept Your commandments, and abide in Your love (John 15:10).
I desire to please You, Oh Lord, and not man (Galatians 1:10). Reveal to me any people, places, or things I have made an idol. Increase my faith to leave every ungodly association in the name of Jesus. Today, I choose to serve You, Lord (Joshua 24:15). Lord, I forgive anyone who has ever wronged me in the past. Please remove all bitterness, envy, anger, jealousy, and any other evil emotion I may harbor towards another. Replace these things with Your love, peace, joy, hope, and contentment. I surrender my affections, emotions, and desires. I request that they be in submission to the Holy Spirit.
In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Day 4
Scriptures: Psalms 139:14, Ephesians 4:22-24, Luke 10:19, Galatians 5:1, James 5:16, Revelation 12:11, Matthew 10:28
Father God, I thank You for Your plan and purpose for my life. Help me to see myself as You see me. I believe that I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). I know that my true identity and purpose come from You–not society, social media, my family, my peers, my career, my education, nor my thoughts towards myself. I am the righteousness of God through faith in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 4:24). Keep me from being distracted by the enemy and forfeiting my God-given authority (Luke 10:19).
Thank You in advance for connecting me with a godly community and wise counsel. I rebuke the spirit of fear that keeps me from confessing my sins to other believers. I believe that You have not given me a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind. I come out of agreement with the lies of the enemy that have kept me bound and come into agreement with the truth of God’s Word in which there is liberty (Galatians 5:1). I stand on Your Word in James 5:16, that as I confess my faults one to another and pray one for another, I may be healed. I overcome the enemy by the blood of the Lamb and the Word of my testimony (Revelation 12:11).
In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray. Amen.
Day 5
Scriptures: Psalms 121:3, 1 Corinthians 10:12-13, Romans 7:18-20, Isaiah 42:16
Jehovah-Sabaoth, You are the Lord of Hosts, my Protector. In Psalm 121:3, Your Word promises, You will not allow my foot to slip. Lord, I come before You to ask that You will protect me from dangers seen and unseen. Give me the wisdom to recognize the traps of the enemy and magnify the way of escape that You provide me when faced with temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13). Strengthen me to resist temptation. Reveal the areas in my life that trigger temptation so I may avoid it. Help me to develop a plan of action to remain committed to the journey You have set before me (Romans 7:18).
Thank You for the hope that I have in You. Thank You, Lord, for being the perfect example of how to walk this Christian journey. You are faithful. I will praise and bless Your great name forever and ever.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Day 6
Scriptures: Psalms 51:17, Jeremiah 10:23, Proverbs 3:5-6, Revelation 4:11, Romans 1:20-25
Lord, You said in Your Word, according to Psalm 51:17, that “the sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.” God, your servant Jeremiah said, “O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.” I believe that my life is not my own, for You are the One Who directs my steps (Jeremiah 10:23). So, I humble myself before You and surrender to Your will. I lay down my hopes, dreams, plans, and desires for the future to pick up Your will for me.
Make me teachable, Oh Lord. Help me not to rely on my understanding but acknowledge You in all of my ways (Proverbs 3:5-6). You are the Creator, and I am Your creation. Because You created everything, You know everything (Revelation 4:11). Help me to seek You first for answers and clarity regarding the issues of life. Help me to acknowledge my limitations and willingly receive correction from Your Word to change my mind and follow Your will.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Day 7
Scriptures: Proverbs 28:13, John 8:33-39, Hebrews 13:4
Father, according to Your Word in Proverbs 28:13, “He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.” Therefore, I confess and renounce all sexual sins (premarital sex, adultery, masturbation, pornography, etc.) in the name of Jesus. I decree and declare these things have no place in my life. I command the spirit of lust to be removed from my life and replaced with the Spirit of Love in the mighty name of Jesus.
I testify that I am free, for whom the Son sets free is free indeed (John 8:36). Thank You, Heavenly Father, for delivering me from all perversion. I bless Your name for showing me great grace and mercy.
In Jesus’ matchless name, I pray. Amen.
