One of the biggest challenges we all face is how to seek God and how to draw closer to Him. At first this may seem frustrating to us, but walking with God is one of the most beautiful experiences there is. The best thing is that we can all have that privilege. Discover what it means to walk with God. —Sebastian Franz
Generations
Day 1
Scriptures: Genesis 1:18-20, Genesis 3:8, Genesis 5:24
One of the characteristics that all human beings have is that we enjoy being in the presence of the person we love. We love spending time with our loved ones because we just weren’t designed to be alone. Ever since I married my wife, my favorite moments have always been when we go for a walk together in the park, to the shopping center, or downtown. We usually aren’t doing anything important in the eyes of the world, but the simple act of walking with her and talking about what is in our hearts as we look at each other and laugh cannot be compared to anything else. Even when we’re just playing around, those times are so powerful and significant.
The same happens with God. One of the most important experiences that any of us can ever have is the experience of accepting Jesus and entering into a relationship with Him for the first time. However, that’s just the start of an amazing, life-giving relationship. As we grow in our faith and experience a continuous walk with God day after day, we are truly transformed, renewed, and we get to know our Father personally. The joy we experience in our growing relationship with Him exceeds all expectations. We see in the very first book in the Bible that God enjoyed walking in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve. What God is looking for in this generation is not just people who believe in Him, but people who walk with Him.
Day 2
Scriptures: Ephesians 3:16-21, Revelation 3:20, John 17:3
Somebody can know a person by name, where they live, where they work, the name of their wife and children, what car they drive, their height, their hometown, their age, and many other things, but still cannot know the desires and intentions of that person’s heart.
We live in a time where many people know who God is, who Jesus is, what the church is, or what Christianity is, but even so, they still do not know the heart of God, His desires, and the desires of His heart.
For example, it is impossible to know a person intimately until we invite them inside by opening the door of our house and letting them share a dinner with us. Just like Enoch, Moses, Abraham and so many others who walked with God, God is ready and waiting to start walking with you.
We were designed by God to be where He is, to spend time with Him, and to walk with Him. So, when we are far from Him, we try to fill our inner emptiness with thousands of different things and people, but nothing can satisfy more than a lifetime of walking with God. Only those that know God personally can really experience the beauty of His will and purpose for their life.
Day 3
Scriptures: Psalms 62:8, Matthew 7:22-23, Proverbs 20:7
One of the most important things in any type of relationship is “transparency.” This means being honest with the person with whom we have a friendship or a relationship.
We know it is very important to know more about God, but it is also very important that God knows more about us. Think about it this way: Imagine a marriage where the wife tells her most intimate secrets to the husband and does not hold anything back, but the husband does not tell all his secrets as he buries them inside himself. This is a dysfunctional relationship because only one person is being transparent and sincere with the other.
Unfortunately, we can fall into the same dynamic with God. He makes Himself known through His word and prayer, but He also wants us to pour out our hearts in His presence, experiencing full transparency and automatically drawing closer to Him as our Lord and Father. As we become transparent with God, He will also challenge us to establish transparency in our earthly relationships, which will only serve to further grow us closer to Him and one another.
Let us become people of integrity who live what they believe, people who have nothing to hide from God or from people. Then, it is at this moment that something powerful occurs: God begins to know us. God knows everything about the universe and about us, but He still wants us to take an active role in this process by involving Him in these deep thoughts of our hearts. He wants us to continually pour out our joys, struggles, and sins. That will foster a personal relationship with Him.
Day 4
Scriptures: Matthew 14:22-33, John 15:6-7, Hebrews 11:7
Walking with God will not always be easy.
We will soon face one of the most difficult disciplines: “Consistency.” The only way for friends to become best friends is through consistency, which often involves communicating daily. Many times, we become frustrated and discouraged by moments in our walks with God where we feel absolutely nothing. Then, as our discouragement grows, we have despairing moments where we want to give up. However, in that exact moment when we feel nothing and only see darkness and insecurity, we can look down and we find ourselves walking on water. How are we walking on water? Just as Peter did it by the power of Christ, so do we. We experience Him catching us when we fall in our lowest moments, just like He caught Peter.
All of this glorifies God in more ways than we can imagine. We just need to consistently remember that and cry out to Him in those dark moments. Remember that it took Noah almost 100 years to complete the largest ark on earth. I can’t imagine what thoughts were running through Noah’s mind 60 years after he began construction of the ark when there were still no signs of rain and hundreds of people mocked him. Despite everything, Noah stayed consistent and believed in God’s word. Today, I encourage you to do the same, and live a life of daily consistency with God.
Day 5
Scriptures: Psalms 139:23-24, 1 John 1:9, Matthew 25:23, John 16:7-15
The time has come for a generation that will walk with God to rise up. A generation of integrity that will not only speak about their faith but live it. A generation that will be known to God and will keep their eyes fixed on Christ Jesus.
Then, as their feet remain placed on the earth, they will be ready and eager to serve and be the light. When Jesus ascended to heaven after His resurrection, he left us the best tour guide to guide us into God’s presence: The Holy Spirit. Today, He is ready and prepared to guide you in your new walk with God. He is here to lead you and guide you each day into the presence of Jesus.
The Holy Spirit is ready to take you beyond what you can imagine so you can achieve new goals, new dreams, purposes, and above all, glorifying God. There will be nothing more beautiful than when we leave this world and arrive before the throne of God. Then, He can call you by your name, and tell you: “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!”
Say this prayer with me:
“Jesus you are my goal, you are my greatest purpose, and you are the reason why I want to live. I no longer want to look at you from afar, but I invite you to enter my heart, live in me, and to walk with me. Help me and guide me, Holy Spirit. Forgive me of my sins and lead me in the way everlasting, let your purposes prevail in my life. I pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.”
