We all have parts of us we try to keep hidden – thoughts we don’t say out loud, feelings we push down, struggles we hope no one sees. But healing can’t happen in hiding. God is inviting you to bring your struggles into the light. Through this plan, explore what Scripture says about the battles we fight beneath the surface and how honesty, community, and God’s truth can set us free.

Day 1
Scripture: Psalms 32:1-7
The Cost of Hiding
Holding things in only wears us down. In Psalm 32, David describes the weight of his hidden sin and the relief he found when he finally confessed it.
Like David did for a long time, we often convince ourselves that as long as no one knows what we’re struggling with, we’re good. But the truth is, hiding our struggles only makes them heavier. David describes how keeping his sins hidden drained his strength and made him feel crushed.
But when David finally confessed his disobedience to God, he experienced the freedom and joy he thought he’d find by keeping it hidden. God doesn’t want us to live under the weight of secrecy. When we come to him and confess what we’ve done, he gives us grace and forgiveness, relieving the weight we’ve been carrying.
What’s one thing you’ve been holding in that you need to bring to God today
Day 2
Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 10:1-13, James 1:12-15
Facing Temptation
Temptation is part of life. We all face moments when we feel drawn to something we know isn’t right. It might be a habit, a thought pattern, or an addiction we keep returning to.
There’s good news: God doesn’t leave us to fight our temptation alone. He always provides a way out. The question is, are we looking for it? Instead of trying to resist on our own, we need to lean into his strength and take the escape he provides.
Where do you feel most tempted in your life right now? What would it look like to take the way out that God provides?
Day 3
Scriptures: Proverbs 14:29-30, James 3:13-18, Genesis 4:1-8
When Jealousy Takes Over
Jealousy can sneak in before we even realize it. We see someone else’s success – their relationships, their talents, the things we wish we had ourselves – and suddenly our own life feels lacking. It’s exhausting to live in comparison, and it keeps us from appreciating what God has given us.
Cain’s jealousy led him to a tragic decision. If there’s anything we can learn from his story, it’s that we don’t have to let envy control us. God offers us a better way by finding contentment in him and his plans and purpose for our lives. That’s ultimately what helps us overcome envy, freeing us to celebrate others instead of resenting them.
Who have you been comparing yourself to lately? How can you shift your perspective to gratitude for what God has given you?
Day 4
Scriptures: Ephesians 4:25-32, Matthew 5:21-26, Jonah 4
Wrestling With Anger
It’s easy to let anger consume us. Do we hold onto it? Let it control us? Hurt others with our words or actions? We can inadvertently do any of those things when our anger goes unchecked.
Jonah’s anger at God shows how easy it is to get stuck in resentment. But God invites us to handle anger differently – by processing it, forgiving, and seeking reconciliation.
How do you typically handle anger? Is there someone you need to forgive, or a situation you need to surrender to God?
Day 5
Scriptures: Psalms 42, 1 Kings 19:1-13
The Weight of Depression
Even the strongest believers have moments of deep sadness. Elijah is one of those people that you wouldn’t expect to have struggled with depression. He was a prophet who had seen God do incredible things, but there was a time when he found himself exhausted and hopeless despite knowing God’s goodness.
Depression and despair are real struggles in the Bible. But know that God didn’t shame Elijah. He cared for him, gave him rest, and reminded him he wasn’t alone. If you’re struggling with depression, know that God sees you and wants to meet you in your pain. He doesn’t condemn you for feeling low. He’s ready to meet you there, sustain you, and give you hope to keep going.
What would it look like for you to let God meet you in your struggles instead of trying to push through on your own?
Day 6
Scripture: James 5:13-16
The Truth Will Set You Free
You’ve probably heard the saying “The truth shall set you free.” (In fact, it came from the Bible!) It means healing begins when we stop pretending and start opening up to others. God works through confession and community to bring us freedom from the things that weigh us down and hold us back.
We weren’t designed to go through life alone. When we open up about our struggles and let others in, we invite God’s healing into our lives. Admitting weakness isn’t failure. It’s a step toward freedom.
Who is one person you can be more honest with about what’s going on in your life?
Day 7
Scriptures: John 8:31-36, Romans 12:1-2, Psalms 119:11, 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
Firm Footing in God’s Truth
Our lives go in the direction of our strongest thoughts. And when our thoughts are rooted in lies, our lives will be directed by them. Lies keep us trapped, enslaved to the hidden struggles and shames we hold onto.
But when we replace these lies with God’s truth, these hidden things lose their power. As our deceitful thoughts are replaced by the hope and forgiveness of God’s Word, we experience true freedom in Christ. Freedom from the weight of our burdens, freedom from the consequences of sin, and even freedom from death if we choose to fully follow Jesus!
What is one lie you’ve believed about yourself? What does God’s Word say instead?
