Have you recently felt “less than?” The truth is you’re a beloved child of God with an identity rooted in Him and a role to play in His kingdom—but insecurity and comparison hinder us from believing the truth. If you’re eager to incinerate insecurity and find freedom from comparison through God’s Word, join me on this plan. Together, we’ll discover and embrace the identity Jesus has given us!

Day 1
Scripture: Romans 12:3
Who Am I?
Sometimes we compensate for our insecurity with pride. Instead of reflecting on who we are—considering both our strengths and our weaknesses—we ignore our faults. In essence, pride becomes a defense mechanism because we are afraid to confront the reality of who we are.
However, in Christ we have the freedom to “think soberly” about our lives. Because Jesus defeated sin and His Spirit gave us the power to overcome, we do not have to make excuses for our shortcomings or pretend they do not exist. Instead, through the faith He gives, we can appreciate our talents, acknowledge our weaknesses, and think of ourselves in a balanced way that honors God and builds up His Church.
Romans 6:5-6 says this:
For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.
In making the decision to follow Jesus, our old self has died, and we are no longer slaves to it. We rejoice in the new self God created in us and find our security there!
As you engage with God’s Word:
● What is God saying to you?
● What does it mean to you?
● What action step do you need to take?
After you reflect on these questions, bring everything to God in prayer.
Day 2
Scripture: Hebrews 4:15-16
You’re Invited
It can be intimidating to walk into the office of your boss, your school president, or an elected official. Their authority in our lives deserves our respect, but often we fear them as well. After all, they can affect our education, our employment, or even our financial and physical well-being.
If it is a bit scary to walk into the office of your boss, how much more frightening it could be to walk into the throne room of the ultimate Boss! However, Jesus died for our sins; we can approach God boldly—not arrogantly, of course, but with a humble confidence.
Jesus knew His saving work on the cross would give us access to God. In John 14, He tells His followers, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” How does today’s guiding verse change your understanding of how God sees you? How does it affect the way you think about prayer?
As you engage with God’s Word:
● What is God saying to you?
● What does it mean to you?
● What action step do you need to take?
After you reflect on these questions, bring everything to God in prayer.
Day 3
Scripture: John 13:3-4
Security and Service
You may be familiar with the story of Jesus washing the feet of the disciples. Amazingly, the night He was going to be arrested, Jesus took time to do this menial task for His friends and use it as a teaching moment to show they were called to serve others. It’s amazing that in the midst of what was a very stressful and emotional time for Jesus, He was still focused on others and on His mission from God.
Today’s guiding verse gives us a clue into how this was possible. Note that Scripture says Jesus knew God had given all things into His hands and He knew God’s call and God’s destiny for Him. Because Jesus knew His mission and was secure in His identity, He took the focus off Himself—even during the most difficult night of His life.
You will probably not be called to die for your faith or to wash the feet of a dozen people, but metaphorically you are called to serve others and share Jesus’ love with them. Ephesians 2:10 says that “We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” God has created you to serve, and when you are secure in Him you walk in the works He has called you to!

● What action step do you need to take?
After you reflect on these questions, bring everything to God in prayer.
Day 4
Scripture: Hebrews 10:22-23
Rest Assured
We are so aware of our own brokenness, but did you know you can rest assured you are saved and destined for eternity with God if you’ve given your life to Jesus?
The writer of Hebrews tells us that because we have been washed in water and saved by Jesus’ blood, we can draw near to God in full assurance of salvation—not because we are good, but because God is faithful.
Second Timothy 1:12 says, “For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.” Our security does not come as a result of our own good works or strong character, but because of the greatness of the One who knows us and protects us. When we give our lives to Him, we’re redeemed for His purposes here and kept for eternity!

● What is God saying to you?
● What does it mean to you?
● What action step do you need to take?
After you reflect on these questions, bring everything to God in prayer.
Day 5
Scripture: Colossians 3:12-14
Confident and Compassionate
When we establish our identity and security in Jesus instead of in ourselves, we feel confident of our eternal home, our connection with God in prayer, and our authority in Christ. Because we know who we are in Christ, we understand Jesus’ love for others and can boldly demonstrate love and compassion for them.
Today’s passage is a high calling for believers, and there are others like it in the New Testament. Ephesians 4:32 tells us to “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.” Romans 12:10 says, “Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another.”
Friends, we can only forgive, honor, and love each other this way when God is working in our hearts. Today, take some time to ask God for His help in grounding your life in Him and growing your love for others. How can God’s great compassion for you lead you to greater compassion for the world?
As you engage with God’s Word:
● What is God saying to you?
● What does it mean to you?
● What action step do you need to take?
After you reflect on these questions, bring everything to God in prayer.
Day 6
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:56-57
Victory Is Yours in Christ
The law—the many requirements we must meet and commands we must obey to please God—serves to show how much we fall short of perfection. Jesus came to fulfill the law and rescue us from it through grace—this is where we find our security!
Death and sin will always be part of life here on earth. We live in a fallen world that is not yet fully redeemed and restored. However, Scripture promises this day is coming! Revelation 21:1-4 gives us this wonderful promise:
Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
We believe God for the ultimate victory because it has been revealed! No matter what obstacles you face today, Jesus gave you the victory and the promise to overcome.
