6 Oct: The Victory of the Cross
For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. 1 Corinthians 15:22
Today’s Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:3–4, 12–22
The room was quiet and dim as I pulled a chair close to Tara’s bed. Before her three-year battle with cancer, she had been so full of life—her laughter contagious, her eyes bright with joy. Now she lay still, and words felt hard to find. So I opened my Bible, turned to 1 Corinthians, and began to read aloud.
Later, sitting in my car, grief washed over me. Then, through my tears, a quiet truth rose in my heart: You’ll see her again. I had been so focused on the pain of parting that I’d forgotten the promise that death is not the end for those who belong to Jesus (1 Corinthians 15:21–22). Because Tara and I both trusted in His death and resurrection for the forgiveness of our sins (verses 3–4), I could rest in the assurance that our separation was only temporary.
When Jesus rose from the grave, He broke death’s power forever. The cross turned loss into hope, and sorrow into promise. For those who believe in Him, death no longer has the final word—it has been swallowed up in victory (verse 54).
Because Jesus lives, we too will live again—with Him, and with those we love, forever. Even in the darkest moments of grief, that unshakable hope shines bright.

Reflect & Pray
How has God comforted you in times of sorrow? How might He want to use you to comfort someone who’s grieving today?
Dear Jesus, thank You for dying for my sin. I believe that You’re alive today because God raised You from the dead.
